Role-Playing Society of Monmouth County, NJ has new home

Since there has been some info here about the "eviction" of our group, I thought I would let everyone know we found a new home in West Long Branch, NJ. We have have been there for a few months and it seems to be a good fit. Thanks for everyone your concern. We are now in our 21st year. Here is the web address with more info about our club: www.geocities.com/roleplayingsociety

Great to hear, Ben. Stupid question, would you and your members be interested in utilizing a board on this forum?

I will pass your generious offer on to our trustees. We do have a Yahoo-group email list and fourm "RPSinfo", I have been meaning to add a link to it from our site.

Since our move we have been more aggressive in marketing ourselves, we are starting to see some new faces at our club. Attendance took a small hit when we moved but our new site is more central and closer to some major roads like the Parkway.

Vinny,
I'm sure we would. I'll bring it up this friday, and officially at our next monthly meeting and see what they say.

Brian, not Ben
Different person, same group.

(Note to whoever might care, I jumped in on this thread teh way I did because being the keyholder for the church where the RPS meets, I'm at every friday night session except when I'm at a con, so I thought I could get the conversation started. Ben, having much more of a life than I do, doesnt make it every friday.)

Vinny and/or Avie,
told all 3 officers about your offer tonight.
Response was positive, but have to bring it up at our monthly meeting.
That will be the Fri after SE.

So, because I know it will be asked, how would this work? RPS gets a 'folder' such as "General Discussion" and divides it up in to subfolders such as "Con Suite" and "Clubs and Org's"?
Would someone in the club, such as our web admin, John H (number 3) have the ability to set up subfolders or would that have to go through one of you?
Would John have the ability to send out special notices re the RPS?

Some of our game-specific yahoo groups are pretty lively and I'm sure would make for some interesting reading.
I will post the subject to our two main yahoo's in the next day or two, so I'm sure there will be more questions.
Would you be willing to become a temporary member of our general info yahoo to field any other questions?

Anyway, Thanks for the offer
Brian.

Generally, we give groups a single board (see the "Double Exposure Partners" category), but if you feel you need more than one board, I will give you a separate category. This category can be either public or private, your choice. I suggest public. One of the boards inside the category COULD be private, such as "officer chat", and officers could specifiy who has access to that particular board.

You would specify who has moderator privs, like being able to edit/remove messages and send out announcements. Unfortunately, only the global moderators can send out global eMail as you've seen me do - the best a moderator can do is send out an eMail to anyone in the "RPS" group that a new topic has been started and should be read. That's actually fairly advanced for a forum system, but I understand that it is not as "push-centric" as Yahoo Groups.

I doubt you'd need subfolders often, that's something I can easily do on request - likewise, if something HAS to go out to RPS members, I can accomodate with a special eMail notice.

>Generally, we give groups a single board (see the "Double Exposure Partners" category).....<

This is actually what I meant.
The different games or sujects would just be their own threads. (And some of the game threads will definitely make for some interesting reading. Especially if people post the highlights of each session.)

>...and send out announcements.<

Well, the only thing that is routinely sent out is our gaming schedule, so our mods being able to send it to our members is fine. Of course given half the chance, number 3 would probably also put it up in the "calendar" section of the forums.

Anyway, that answers the questions I currently have, tho after our monthly meeting I'm sure there will be more.
Anything you want to know that Ben, Number 3 or I could answer?

Thanks
Brian

PS, Do I need to arrange to pick up books for SE?

Yeah, on a post board, the game schedule just screams "sticky me!"  As long as I can edit it, we're right as rain.
