Yes it's only now getting announced, and yes it'll be a couple of months before previews actually start showing up, but G*dammit I'm posting this now!!

Wizkidsgames announces DC Heroclix Origins!

This February release will feature classic golden age characters alongside newer ones from the current 52 storyline. The characters confirmed so far (only because I found a shot of the booster boxes) are golden age Superman and Batman, The Question, the new Blue Beetle, Hawkman, Wonder Girl, Supergirl, and...

ALAN SCOTT!!! I have been waiting for him since I got into heroclix!

Here's hoping this set shapes up to be frickin awesome!

Sorry. In my excitement I completely forgot to post any links. Unfortunately, I only found it on another forum and have no idea where they found it. But if you go to the official Heroclix forums at HCRealms.com I'm pretty sure you'll find it on the main page.

So it's that time again, time for me to write previews that most none of you are ever going to read but I do it because I enjoy it. So there  Tongue

Origins previews have started and here I am to give you the low-down as they come. So far they've given the stats for three figures (2 LEs and one U) and they've announced one other LE. The one that was only announced was one of the two (!) convention LEs there will be this year (see the Supernova previews thread for the other one, it's a doozy). The one from Origin however is pretty kewl on its own: The Dark Knight. It'll be a Batman figure with the Superman TA. Nothing further on this guy yet, so I'll just get to the ones we do have.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12576
First up I have for you the Brick LE for Origin, Dr. Fate! This shows right away how this set will concentrate more on golden age characters with a smattering of the new characters from the current 52 and One Year Later storylines. The GA Fate looks great and is pretty decent, even if he seems like a few too many points for what he can do. At 134 points with the JSA TA, he's got a good complement of support and offensive powers. He starts off with phasing, but goes quickly into running shot, allowing for good opening mobility. That mobility will allow him to help his allies quite a bit, considering he's got a good amount of probability control and perplex throughout his dial. Defensively he opens up with toughness for three slots, switches to energy shield/deflection for a while, and ends up with barrier. Finally, he has incapacitate surrounding two clicks of telekinesis, and all of that is followed by some psychic blast. Altogether he's not all that bad, but the virtually naked last couple of clicks with only barrier and one slot of prob control will leave him pretty vulnerable. Especially when he has a short range of 6, even though it's kind of mitigated by having 2 targets.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12658
Next we have the New Guy Night figure: Wonder Woman! Also from the golden age, she's a much less powerful version of the character we've seen a couple of times in clix already; but that's ok as she's a pretty good bargain in points for what she can do. For only 51 points you get someone with some good numbers and just enough powers, not too much. Her first slot has super strength and battle fury with a good damage of 3.  After that she pulls out her lasso, as she loses BF and can actually use her range of 4. She gets three slots of incap, which is then followed by two of flurry, and finally two of close combat expert. Throughout all of this she's not bad on defense, as she starts with three of toughness and ends with five of combat reflexes. Honestly, paying only 51 points for 8 clicks of life, where she's pretty dangerous on every single one of them...like I said, a decent bargain.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12636
And finally one of the uniques from the set: Starman! Here's an instance, where with the creation of this character in clix, we now have everyone in his lineage. Ted Knight was the first one to use the cosmic rod to battle evil. We also got his son way back in Cosmic Justice, and we got Stargirl in Legacy. Now we have the original, and he's not all that bad. 106 points with the JSA TA (I'm loving the amount of JSA in this set), and he is the quintessential ranged attacker. Two slots of running shot coupled with three of energy explosion let him devastate groups of opponents, while an opening click of leadership gets his own allies out on the field. That's followed by two clicks of ranged combat expert for big damage, and then FIVE clicks of perplex. His defense is evenly split between ES/D and barrier, and he has three ending clicks of force blast to keep himself out of trouble if anyone comes after him.

There you have it, the first real look at figures from Origin. Hope you enjoy.

Today I have a brand new REV to show you, and he's someone that people have been waiting for: Catman!

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12562
The rookie Cat-Man is 47 points with the Batman Enemy TA. He basically started out his career as a very obvious copycat (no pun intended) of both Batman and Catwoman. In fact the two of them teamed up a couple times to take him down. He's a pretty competent attacker, with lots of abilities that help him in close combat. On his first two clicks leap/climb helps him get to a target while CCE lets him deliver some punishment. Later on he gets flurry and battle fury as his combat instincts take over. He's pretty hard to hit too, with almost a full dial of combat reflexes. And finally his mystical cape, which gave him nine lives, provides a single ending slot of regeneration.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12563
The experienced represents the slump in his career. He gets out of shape, and doesn't really do much. Of course they couldn't make the E a pog or something silly like that, but they did make it less points than the R (just like Dr. Light) with some reduced abilities. Charge surrounds the leap/climb this time around, and ES/D precedes his combat reflexes. And while on the R his best numbers were in the middle of his dial, here they're all front-loaded. He still has some CCE, but with a lower base damage.

I'll do the veteran a little later.

Later came sooner than I thought...

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12564
The veteran represents the confident Catman from the recent Secret Six miniseries. At 64 points with the Suicide Squad TA, he can be a very effective member of your team. He opens up with charge, blades, and willpower. A very devastating combo when used properly. Blades continues further down his dial, and is joined by some combat reflexes. After those he gets a couple slots of flurry, and then three more ending slots of willpower. All of his values are very consistent, the only thing is that his damage value is pretty low; but with blades and flurry that's quite alright. Personally I can't wait to team him up with Deadshot, plus the fact that we're supposed to get Knockout in this set as well.

Enjoy!

A new REV has been posted, along with the corresponding LE! So here's Supergirl!

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12641
The rookie starts off representing when she first came to earth, insecure and over aggressive, and as such has no team ability since she didn't really play well with others. It's ok, since her 140 point cost went instead to some great stat and power combinations. Charge opens things up along with invulnerability, and then both of those switch to flurry and super senses along with battle fury. Super strength is also along for the ride that whole time. After that she gets a couple of options, choosing to either blast with energy explosion or smack with CCE. Either is very viable. Super strength then comes back along with BF and flurry, and then an ending slot of psychic blast. Toughness also acts to protect her for the last 5 clicks of her dial. She has very good combat values this whole time, especially a nice high starting defense.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12642
The experienced version joins the Super family (and gets the TA), and also gets a bit of combat training from the amazons. Here her range jumps from the previous 8 to a very respectable 10, especially considering she starts with running shot. Charge and force blast both make appearances after that, and she gets a end-dial boost with some HSS for a quick finish (no pun intended). Super strength and EE are both still the order of the day when it comes to her attack powers, there's just more EE this time around, and in addition to CCE she also gets a little RCE to bump up her ranged damage. Her defenses are still great, with consistently high numbers, an opening slot of imperv followed by super senses, and the rest of her dial filled with invul and toughness. Not a bad package for 192 points.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12643
The vet gets shunted into the future and joins the Legion of Super Heroes. At 232 points, she's quite the beast in the same vein as others who wear the "S". The basic package of powers once again shows up, full damage reducers, super strength, charge, HSS, force blast, and a single slot each of CCE and RCE. At the end of her dial she fully switches into ranged mode with two slots of super senses and psychic blast. Throw in some great numbers especially in attack and she can easily hold her own.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12644
The LE Supergirl represents mroe of her earlier career when Luthor exposed her to black kryptonite. 194 points translates into a shorter range and one fewer click of life than the others, but the addition of the Superman Enemy TA. This version is all about cutting through defenses, as along with her basic package of invul, toughness, super strength, charge, and flurry, she gets more psychic blast and also a good amount of exploit weakness on her dial. An interesting note is that her toughness comes in the middle of her dial, while invul surrounds it on both sides.

Hope you enjoy.
