Not all guardian angels are pretty...

House Button:
1. You need one. Double Exposure provides them.
2. (All customized House Badges must be approved by Avie or Vinny before use.)

Character Card:
1. You need one. Double Exposure provides them.
2. If the Computer is down, find a GM that can sign off on a temp for you. (Or, learn to pack a spare! Yeah, it might be a bit old, but still better than nothing!)

Ready Pouch / Carry Pouch:
1. You need one. Double exposure provides them. It is a simple zip-loc bag.
2. Feel free to seek out your own - there are numerous carrying devices out there that are fancier and more customizable to your taste.

*This way, when you get pick-pocketed, you can show the bag, instead of saying "I have nothing, so I don't carry one"...

...before entering combat moments later, and fumbling through the mountain of item cards that suddenly appeared in your possession and deciding which ones are now in your (imaginary) carry pouch...

...before dieing, and fumbling through a batch of items that your killer (mistakenly) thought you were using to show the three (unstealable) things that were actually the only things you had in the (once again) imaginary carry pouch...

...or even entering a combat with NO item cards, and then telling your foe what items you have and are using, based on memory only...

*: Not that you would ever do something like this...

If you don't have your CC or Button on, and try to act IC

OR

if you have your button on, and act OOC for long periods of time, or fail to cover your button while talking OOC

you WILL be penalized with Experience loss.

Also, if you're in a combat without a ready pouch, you can't use those items.  If you dont have an item card, you don't have the item.  So don't lose your items, either - keep them organized.

So please, don't make the GM's and A-GM's hurt your character.

I myself was guilty of that - I had my button on, at a table full of OOC people in a room of only OOC people - and was talking to them OOC. Avie reminded me, and I took my button off.

I was hoping more people would show up IC, but until the Deadlands game ended, it seemed that nobody was in the Nexus at all. (except for the brief time when Valeria, Ashleigh, and the Chaos Wolf were playing Pai Gow Poker in the Bazaar. The Chaos Wolf cheats, according to Valeria...)

His paws are way too big, and I'm certain he's got some cards hiding in his fur.

Well, there are a few exceptions to this rule. If you are in a public area (con suite, for example) and your characters are in an inaccessable area to the rest of the people in general (a domain or territory, for example) you should take off your buttons, unless you have at least 2 others there to state that you are all indeed, elsewhere. (from the rule book. Too tired to look it up and quote the exact text here, but it is there. Look it up.)

There was Pai Gow Poker in the bazaar?  (Sobs.)

Actually, it wouldn't matter.  Zero doesn't gamble unless it perceives it has an advantage of some kind, and Tartuia's not smart enough.  Can I make a Linda-Avatar for these occasions?

(Kidding, mostly.)
