The cynical side of me foresees people buying the complete event pass. They then don't arrive until late saturday, take it home and punch it themselves. Punch holes aren't exactly distinctive.

Think of the horror! Dozens, nay, SCORES of individuals simply BUYING hundreds of EP, for a paltry $30-$60 a pop, without even showing up!

Avie already has sign in sheets required now for exp award for bigger events, might as well get seperate sheets for each day if we are going to go that route. And the paperwork becomes... unfriendly at best. Besides, during a hectic time, it is too easy to sign in a friend's name in addition to your own, even though they won't be in until late tomorrow. Or the next day.

Couldn't base event EP awards be automated? Would save on paperwork, I'd think.

Still doesn't help the case for day-by-day EP awards (which I think are a poor solution to the issue of fewer events vs. increased-per-level requirements... would seem like just bumping up event base EP would make more sense than making each day a mini-event and awarding accordingly, anyhow, if that's how you wanted to do it, if you even see it as a problem in the first place).

If you wanted to do day by day awards, the person living in New Brunswick could still stop in show their face and leave without playing, so it could still be abused if goal is to reward roleplaying.

I'm going to ask nicely at this point that we bring a hold to this discussion.  As I said before, I will bring the ideas up for conversation, and see if there is a way to make them happen AND maintain consistency with the desired AND intended mechanics.

We value your input, as always.  But this deals with a segment of the general math and mechanics of the game that, bluntly and frankly, you do not know the amount of thought, planning, and detailing that must go into changing it.  Consequently, many of your suggestions are working on assumptions, of what would and would not make things "simpler" and "easier" for us.  Again, frankly and bluntly, sometimes inconvenience is a cost of making the mechanics work as intended, or truly "manageable" for the GM staff.  Please keep these things in mind before making broad and descriptive statements, because you may be unwittingly making yourself out to sound like a braying ass.

D, there is no need to make such statements. It is demeaning and makes you look like a condescending jerk, and I know that was not your intention.

Please drop this.

The topic had become a deceased equine and no amount of pounding was contributing anything of benefit. Any perceived nastiness is because the staff is weary of the smell of bloated horse.

OK, now I'm a bit sorry that I started/regurgitated this subject. But a bit of a comment on the last few posts, I thought that this section was for discussion and, with minor exception, I thought that was what was happening. Of course I could be wrong.... Wait.. Strike that.. I'm not wrong... just, misinformed... yeah...

I think it shows great testament to Vinny, Avie and everyone else on the DE staff that they have gone and created something that engenders this much thought, discussion, passion and random babbling and I feel that it is only out of love and our natural want to help this system grow that these suggestions/thoughts/demands are made in the first place. either that or we're a bunch of self-serving sycophants who like to hear ourselves type at all hours of the night. You take your pick.  Grin

Bill,

Thank you and we do understand that you are trying to help by adding suggestions. Unfortunately with the small staff that we have, it's harder to keep track of people like you were suggesting at the larger events.

It's an interesting idea, just we do not have the man power or time to implement it.

who is the person in new brunswick?

It was just a general statement, not an indictment of a specific individual, involving speculation.
