Just an FYI - the traffic gets backed up southbound on Route 1 between Woodbridge Center and Menlo Park, even on weekends.  Add a couple extra minutes to your food runs, and you should be fine.  In that direction is many opportunities for food, including White Castle, Panera Bread, Macaroni Grill, Benihana, Ihop, Wendy's, McDonald's outside of Menlo Park Mall. They have a food court in Menlo Park Mall and a Rainforest Cafe.   Note: Benihana, Edison has weekday hibachi lunch specials if your looking for a treat for your Friday lunch.

Across the street in Woodbridge Center is also food - Charlie Brown's for steak, Applebee's, etc.  There is also a Wegman's further up Woodbridge Center Drive, with a food court.  That's the meeting place for the Central NJ Boardgamers - in case you wonder why I know the area so well  Cheesy   In the Wegman's shopping center is another Panera Bread.

North on Route 1 is Jose Teja's (sign just says EAT), Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks.  There is also a Shop Rite grocery store a little further up at the intersection of Route 35.

Closest across Gill Lane is pizza (nunzio's?), another hibachi/sushi place, Red Lobster and a Bonefish Grill (used to be Chi Chi's).

Things change so frequently in that area, that there may be changes to what I remember.

Well, if my truck isnt good enough for you, I hope its freezing rain.   Grin Grin Grin

Nothing personal.  I just prefer not to make myself a burden on other people, and public transit means the only schedule I have to plan against is publicly posted and (usually) dependable.  As it is, I no longer live anywhere that another RPS member would consider 'convenient'.

So, you have my cell phone number. When you're about to get to the train station, call me.
Unless of course you really want to walk.

ladies and gentlemen....

the Woodbridge Hilton

and from the directions page:

Amtrak Train / Metropark Station is walking distance from the hotel. Exit the train station and turn right onto Middlesex Turnpike. Turn left at the light (Wood Ave South) and the hotel is two blocks up the hill on the left hand side. Total distance is 2.5 blocks.

the Metropark Station is on the Northeast Corridor line, if you come from New York.

Your directions are correct, however, those "2.5 blocks" are long. This is an industrial park and the walk is about a HALF MILE in distance. See for yourself: use Google Maps and get directions from 100 Middlesex-Essex Tpk, Iselin, NJ (Metropark Station) to 120 Wood Ave South Iselin, NJ (the Hilton).

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THOSE OF YOU WALKING FROM THE METROPARK TRAIN STATION!![/size]

if you call the Woodbridge Hilton at 732-494-6200 when you arrive at the Train Station, THERE IS A SHUTTLE SERVICE TO THE HOTEL.

<sarcasm>Half a mile? And up hill?!  Hoary Carp!  I'd better cut back on the 7 mile run I had planned for that morning!</sarcasm>   Roll Eyes

There are also taxis that show up randomly in addition to the shuttle.
