I had no problems with it.  I think there are definitely some kinks to work out, but then again my main concern is getting there.  The Woodbridge Hilton owns on public transportaion.

We do need to talk to them about the elevators, though.  Thank [deity] for easily accessible stairs.

I would have to say that the second biggest problem was that the facility was new to DEx, and that, unlike our years of experience at allocating the function space at East Brunswick, we still need "practice" putting the functions in the appropriate space. During the Saturday afterrnoon rush, Boardgaming in particular was overcrowded; no "overflow space" was allocated (though it seems that there was underutilized space from other functions that was available, it wasn't clear until specific "Go there..." directions were given that they could use it).

The sleeping rooms were amazing compared to East Brunswick, however. Much more roomy and comfortable.

And public transit accessibility wins at the Woodbridge, hands down.

As much as I like the space for Dreamation, I don't think theres any way to shoe-horn a DexCon there.

But if the parking lot is going to be such a security concern, a lot of thought will have to go into how to cope before we go there again. One can hope that the experiences of Dreamation weekend were an aberration; otherwise being in that neighborhood just ain't gonna be worth it.

there was a wedding also that weekend that utilized a ballroom we would hopefully have access to for a Dex, and there was talk about DEx consulting with the hotel on advice for construction towards becoming a more "convention friendly" hotel.  I do not know the current status of said plans, and I highly doubt they will come to fruition, considering some of the events that happened over the course of the weekend.

I agree that this hotel has some VERY good improvements over EB... whether they outweigh the bad is another story altogether.

EDIT: I have re-read all the "post-dreamation" threads, and I see Vinny has said DEx would not return.  so I assume this is moot discussion by now.

I talked to Jeff Mache for a while at DREAMATION about the nightmares he was having w/ the management and I'll gladly learn from his experience.

yeah, nice hotel, but frankly, nowhere NEAR the space DEx needs..

and agreed... while the hotel staff was behaved, I think half of them were scared shitless of the WF people.

no way would I want to put any con group through that kind of hell.

Yeah but how many of us were there it seemed like i was running into everyone includeing you the only thing i think would be diffrent was there wouldnt be so many people getting flogged in the open and the adult area wouldnt be there as well. And for anyone that missed it they were giveing out free toys my gurl walked away with a piece that online costs $116.00 so yeah if you havent gone to one its a whole lot of fun and they had some good vendors there to.

and talking to Jeff, that's basically what he was told.

he was ORDERED to have the cops on site at HIS expense.   and they were NOT cheap.  what do you think you'd say if they made Vinny do the same, when you know what happens at a Double Exposure convention?

this hotel pulled a FEW stunts on Jeff, and a lot of the guests.  I honestly would not recommend them for any convention.

Wow see i didnt know those details that does suck i thought it was just a few booking problems and legal matters i didnt know they said your kind did he atleast talk to there higher corporate or was that who told them cause i would be writeing rediculos letters to the press and so on but thats just me i understand that would make it so no hotel would want to host it but that really is messed up for them to say that.
