Depending on whether I got your meaning of "how it works" right:
This was designated as High Host Dominance-- therefore Low Avatar Dominance-- so your Avatar will essentially be trapped watching a first person point of view 3-D movie all weekend. Though there could aways be subtle differences, Biltriz defined the
usual parameters of Level One (lowest) Avatar Dominance as:
"No influence over host, few memories of Journey afterward, some danger of host personality overtaking Avatar."
The last two points, how much the Avatar remembers and whether the host personality takes over upon return to the Nexus are usually player decisions to have fun with as they see fit.
The other variables have not been stated, so we don't know if the Avatars will be able to recognize each other's Nexus identities, or just House auras, or even be able to tell which Journey character is hosting an Avatar at all (Avatar Recognition). Or if the Avatars will be able to communicate mentally (Avatar Commmunication) which would be really useful while trapped in hosts but also very unusual for Low Avatar Dominance worlds. It's best to assume none of this is going to be possible. And I'll bet good money that Host Shifting is right out.

How it works experience-wise is points will likely only get awarded for playing the host character. While you can have a Nexus scene or two behind closed doors, and these will be assumed to have happened before or after the event, it is greatly preferred that you do not play your Avatar in the function rooms, halls or other public spaces. He'll be inside your host, watching, but not in control.
