Wait... what is that? Did you hear that? It sounds like a badger, inspecting a pile to see if something shook loose. I wonder if it found anything...

Thanks Socket. :-D
Here's our dealie - the hotel has no space for us in April. Gentlemen's agreements to hold function space on particular weekends only holds until the profit margin on giving it to somebody else exceeds us by a certain percentage, then all bets are off.
We've been talking to alternate options, and they've been equally booked full and crazy.
Because the general feel I got was that enough people would be unhappy working through a suite hotel and sharing space (for sleeping and luggage and privacy reasons), I'm trying to find MORE alternate options. This includes digging through the suggestion list for Lugosicon hotel options to see if any of those are viable now in a way they weren't then.
That's what the badgers find.
We're viewing hotel space on Saturday.
I'm guessing the date is going to end up being May at this rate, earlier rather than later.

May I suggest the Wyndham? (Jetport Hotel)
We has an issue with security there in the past, but it may not be such an issue this time. (it is further away from the events which sparked heightened security, and with the economy down, they may be more likely to have replaced the boss security guy with a lower paid selection...)

The space is wicked expensive, sadly. They went out of their way to price themselves out of the ballpark of events like us.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT- Due to the lack of reasonably priced comfortable hotel space, Bottom of the Box will be an all weekend CAMPING CONVENTION! Thats right folks, a Double Exposure first!
But seriously, I've been futsing around with ideas for hotels with decent space and comfort and i really can;t come up with anything. I was thinking maybe the Jetport or a comfort suites but it sems those ideas have already been addressed. Personally, i wouldn't mind terribly waiting until may, but i gotta feed the larping itch eventually or i might lose my mind.
Sincerely, Frank- the guy who wouldn't mind a camping convention. I would be the guy fishing "in game."

Im all for camping as well theres a couple good ones in jersey i know theres cheese quake which if open should be fairly cheap the onlything is i know they have a quite time after a i belive 10 pm so we couldn't really wander around unless we get permission from them. I also know more down south is Basto which im sure would love to have us it is down in the pine barrens so anyone that has problems with allergies if it is a option i would pack the meds they do allow camp fires down at that one that you dig yourself last time i checked so thats a plus as long as they say its been a wet season. I know a few others like High point, NJ which that was a beautiful one with a lake and all the only porblem is its bear country so food and all that has to be stored in the cars. i knwo theres a few others but never been there. What we could always do aswell is figure out how to become a boy/girl scout troop i know certain Larps do that so they have access to all cub scouts of america camp grounds.

I for one can pretty well say with some certainty that the head GM and her assorted personalities (I personally like Sarah) more than likely...nay most than likely don't camp. But hey I have been wrong before. Barbara who is really really bored at work

On camping:
generally fun, sometimes.
except:
nowhere good to get into costume.
not enough indoor plumbing for a large group.
really hard terrain and accommodations for anyone with a cane or physical disability.
On camping in early spring in a temperate zone:
cold. rainy. muddy. nowhere dry to sit let alone in groups. let alone comfortably for long periods of time.
and seriously, i liked camping last time i went. but I'd prefer also if my costumes didn't end up smelling like mesquite for the end of time because i spent the whole LARP huddled by the fire (which is what happened last time.
and i swear, i really do like camping in theory.

Correction... There is one exception, but Avie will have to explain.
HOWEVER, not this year.
