"I can remember my family, my teachers, and what they taught me. I don't remember my youngest sisters name or either of the princes my father wanted me to marry. But I don't believe the second one is a loss."

“I remember everything, down to the last death of my home world, and all my failures to prevent it.” AElf reached out and claimed one of the teacups, giving the elf a moment of silences as she reflected on long ago memories. She blew lightly over the surface of the tea to cool it and took a small sip before continuing. “But that was a very long time ago, and though I still hold regrets and will forever carry the memories of that time and place with me I have learned to move on. The past is the past; it is what helps shape us into who we are. And even when we can go back and try to change it, far greater consequences usually result from such actions.”

"Was your home world one of war?" Des said taking the other cup of tea and putting a small bit of honey in it. "It has been a thousand moons since a sword was drawn in battle on my world."

“Once, or so I was told, it was a beautiful, bountiful land. But then there was a disagreement between two factions, about what I don’t honestly know. The fighting had been going on for so long I think the slight, whatever it was, had been forgotten but the hatred and revenge had taken over by then… The fighting between the two factions devastated the land and by the time they realized what was happening to the land it was too late to do anything… and the world slowly died until I alone still lived.” AElf took another sip of her drink “Eventually I can here, to the nexus"

"Was your planet dying?" Des asked looking out to the window. "Not the people on the planet but the planet itself. the Spirit?"

"It died." the elf states plainly in a emotionless tone, "And every living thing with it. The great Chossen One failed to complete the prophecy and ... everyone died save for the memories that I carry."

Des sat there a moment looking down at her tea. "I'm sorry to hear that. What did the prophecy say?"

The elf gave a tiny shrug as if talking about it didn’t bother her, though the hesitation before speaking showed other wise. “What most prophecies say; one will be chosen to right wrongs, heal wounds, bring peace and harmony back to the land.” AElf took another sip of tea before setting the cup down and looking at Des “Why do you ask?”

"Society does not believe in them back home. its normally a low class idea that inspired hope in times of low moral. Eostara knew all of the ones on my world. but its not something I was ever allowed to know about." Des stirred her tea. "My father would have outlawed stories of hope if he heard of them."

“Well that is one of their strengths, it is rather hard to smother them as one side or the other is always ‘outlawing’ what they say and yet they are still known to the people they relate to.” The lightfoot studied the young woman before her “You were of the ruling class.” AElf surmised in her quiet voice. “I was as well, for all the good it did me.”

She smiled a moment. "My father was second to what some call a king, if anything happened to him then my father would be the one who took over. Because I am the oldest child, I was being groomed to take his position for the rulers sons. What my mother did not know was that when I was supposed to be learning manors and decorum i was learning about herbalism and nature spirits." Des took a sip of her tea followed by patting her lips with the napkin.

With a wane smile AElf reclaimed her teacup. “I was to be the leader of both the warring clans, and thus bring peace and prosperity to the world.” She stated plainly as the lightfoot took a sip of the cooling tea. “However, I was ‘lost’ for some years and was force to survive on my own by any means necessary when I was a child. Once I was found it took some time to ‘civilize’ me let alone accept what ‘destiny’ had proclaim for me.”

“That is the question now isn’t it?” The elf’s gaze shifts slightly as she stares at nothing close by. “I remember being cared for by a human couple, but they died of old age before I was, well, the equivalent age of five in human years I believe. As to why I was not where I was suppose to be - when I was suppose to be there, I’ll never know.” The lightfoot shrugs “One of those quirks of fate that you either accept and move on or let it eat at you and destroy your life with continuing asking ‘why?’”

"I take it you moved on since you do not seem to be questioning why anymore?" Des stirred her tea lightly before placing it down on the table in front of her. "I've always found it interesting that you can be destined to do great things, but it is the faiths who put you in the place you need to be. It is almost if she who is writing your Destiny plans the events to happen, not talking to the Faiths who make the details happen. But some how, by the Goddesses breath, it works out the way it is truly meant to." The Lilith looks out the window and sees the green in the trees look brighter. "Μνημη (said Mneme) used to say that every few thousand years the spirits that controlled destiny would be reborn into a new form. It was a chance for Destiny to live out a life and be free of controlling the worlds Destiny. A vacation that lasted 45 of our cycles."
