Chapter One
Blackfell lived as any other wolf has done since the dawn of time. She knew nothing but The Way, the law of nature, the law of the pack. That is till she came across a camp of five human hunters, and knew instinctively what they were saying! Scared and confused she fled into the forest, straight into a nearby trap. Injured, she cried out for help. Eagerly the hunters swarmed around her, arguing what to do with her. Then suddenly a strange human called out to them to let her go. Startled the hunters turned to this new human. Demanding to know who he was and why they should. The man smiled and said softly that he was Sean MacGarrou and that she was protected. He'd give them to the count of ten to surrender her or pay the consequences.
They laughed at him, and that is how they died. As if it was a dream, MacGarrou almost dissolved before her eyes. In his place, stood a God. He stood like a human but looked like wolf! The hunters didn't stand a chance.
Gently, Sean released her from the trap and carried her to his cabin. He tended her wounds and explained that he was sent to find her, and carefully explained why she was protected. She was a Garou just like him. She also was part of a larger tribe called the Fianna. Sean taught Blackfell how to live like a homid. And trained her to fight with any weapon she might come across, except guns.
During the triannual Fianna gathering. The newly changed Ahrouns would fight for the honor of being the best of this generation. Using her instinctive cunning and superior training. Blackfell was able to win time and again. It was also foretold of a female the color of the deepest shadow. Would be the one to bring the Fianna the greatest glory in many a generation.
The wheel of life had turned many times and Blackfell had become a honored and seasoned warrior. Sean had adopted her since it had seemed that Gaia would not bless him with a pup/child of his own. Passing his own Grand Klaive onto her, the child of his spirit, when the time came. Together they became the Guardians of the Catskill Mountains. Then Gaia came to her in a dream. Telling her that it was her time to find a mate. Tearfully she left Sean saying that she would return.
Seasons passed. Many packs refused to accept her. Depressed she eventually roamed alone. Out of boredom she entered a wolf sanctuary. There she found a silver and white male wolf that did not shy from her. He smelled of kin but not of the Fianna. He was the only male able to jump as high as her. Blackfell named him Star Jumper. It was not long till she knew that her search was fruitful, but so did the Wrym.
Knowing of the prophecy, the Black Spiral Dancers did not want it to come true. Smelling the taint of the Wyrm getting stronger, Star Jumper and Blackfell made a blind run back to Sean's cabin. Hopelessly outnumbered, Star Jumper made a last stand so that Blackfell could escape. It was the only time Blackfell retreated without fighting beside her mate. Already in labor, Blackfell used the last of her strength to make it to Sean's cabin. Sean, having the Sight, already had all the supplies ready for her return. After a extremely long labor, Blackfell finally whelped Moonchaser, her huge homid pup.
