[Proper, headed towards The Falls] Radioing Sebastian

[SigmaCaine]

Sigma puts some distance between himself and the shuttle, then heads in the genera direction of the Falls. After a few minutes of walking, he attempts to raise Sebastian on the radio.

"Caine here. Come in, Kirsch."

[Sebastian Kirsch]

†  A response comes in, but it is garbled, and does not seem to be phrased in the form of a response, "#### this time #### too easy #### blood will flow #### a reckoning ###"

[SigmaCaine]

Sigma closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. When he opens them, he sees an old, hunched man in front of him.

"What are you going to do now, boy? You jumped off a shuttle filled with people who could help you, without a weapon or even your shirt! Look what that woman's done to you!"

"Hello again to you too, Dad. I'll figure something out. I just need-"

"Need what? Your little thieving friends to bail you out? Hironobu to build you something? Joey to help you beat Sebastian into submission? Alexandria to make it all stop hurting?" The old man sneers. "You could never do anything without them! You're worthless."

"YES, I NEED HELP! IT'S NOT A CRIME!" Sigma makes a point of ignoring the old man, who continues to berate him. He whispers to himself, "Velguader. Can you still hear me?"

~Unfortunately, yes. Is that someone yelling in your head?~

"Just ignore him. Look, I need you to take Echo and go to the comm center. Hook up my radio frequency with N.E.W.S., and triangulate the location of Sebastian's radio. He just sent a transmission."

~Do you want fries with that?~

"JUST DO IT!"

The old man prods Sigma's shin with his cane, the size difference not seeming to bother him in the slightest. "Calling for help, are you? Giving in? Just admit you can't do anything on your own. Just admit you will never be able to help Sebastian. You're a failed experiment, and that's all you will ever be!"

Sigma and the old man continue to argue...

Eventually Sigma seems to receive some sort of response, because he begins moving quickly towards Sebastian's location.

†  Sigma's route takes him toward a more treacherous tertrain, filled with scattered outcroppings and jagged rocks.  The landscape would make it impossible for almost any vehicle to move through the area, or for any larger craft to land.  Occasionally Sigma will note a Nordic rune etched into the rock."

[SigmaCaine]

Sigma radios Sebastian again, attempting to get a more precise fix on his location. "Kirsch? You out there?" He picks his way slowly and carefully through the terrain, noting but not understanding the runes.

†  As soon as Sigma sends the transmission he can hear the other end of the message emanating from a partially-concealed cave opening, though there is no response from the other end.

Sigma creeps up slowly, but not especially quietly. He appears to be being cautious without trying to take Sebastian by surprise. He calls out, "Seb? You in there?" He pokes his head into the cave.

†  As Sigma approaches the cave entrance a figure drops stealthily behind him (figure it'd work like a pickpocket ... Seb drops behind Sigma and ... Aces the DR pull) the sudden rush of rocks sliding down the side of the outcropping alerts Sigma to Sebastian's presence as the hunter crouches with a makeshift short staff, the remains of smeared blood along his face and hands.

"AAAHHH!!!" Sigma jumps into the air and whirls around, shield brought up in front of him. When he sees the source of the noise is Sebastian, he lowers the shield slightly.

"What the hell? Sebastian! You scared the shit out of me!" He peers at Sebastian. "Why is there blood on your face?"

[Sebastian Kirsch]

†  The hunter's eyes are fixed on Sigma as he curses under his breath.  He moves with incredible quickness, driving the pointed end of his short staff into Sigma's thigh (667 OR meant to incapacitate - rather than killing Sigma if he goes below 0 LIFE, he will be rendered immobile from the pain but still able to talk)

Sigma lets out a yell and falls to the ground. He drops his shield and clutches at his leg.

"Ow," he says in a very small voice. He mumbles something nearly incoherent that sounds a lot like, "Now is not the time, Dad."

Louder, he says, "Sebastian! What. The. Fuck." He continues clutching at his leg. drawing in sharp intakes of breath.

Sigma lets out a yell and falls to the ground. He drops his shield and clutches at his leg.

"Ow," he says in a very small voice. He mumbles something nearly incoherent that sounds a lot like, "Now is not the time, Dad."

Louder, he says, "Sebastian! What. The. Fuck." He continues clutching at his leg. drawing in sharp intakes of breath.

†  The hunter grabs Sigma's good leg and begins to drag him out into the open, breathing heavily - not from the exertion of moving the larger man, but from the exhaustion of battling the effects of the ghost rock.  As he continues with his work he mutters to himself, "they truck in deception ... they exist to destroy everything we have created.  No matter how often the Council fails to handle its affairs there will be those of us who will do what needs doing.  We won't fall so easily this time ... no ... this time you're in for a fight, you miserable bastards."  The trail of Sigma's blood leads to a flat open area that can be easily seen from above.  Sebastian drops the Galahad's limb onto the rocky terrain and looks upward, scanning the skies for movement.

[SigmaCaine]

"I could help that fighting IF YOU WEREN'T STABBING ME IN THE LEG!" This is apparently all Sigma has strength for, as afterwards he simply lays limply on the rocky terrain, staring upwards.

The slight whine of the Shuttle engines can be heard at a distance.
