Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to officially introduce myself before the convention.  I'm Elizabeth Stark and I'm working on a book on LARP.  I will be lurking at the DexCon and trying out LARP for myself (warning: I am a total noob).

I've already spoken to many of the Avatar players and look forward to connecting faces with voices from over the phone.  I'd also love to meet/interview/make contact with folks I haven't met.

Lizzie,

I don't think you will find a more "noob friendly" bunch of people anywhere.

Mark (who is also a LARP noob)

Sign up for the Avatar System, see it from the inside. Ask a nearby otter to show you around. You can always trust the otters, and they know everything that is going on.

Friendly out of character.  In character?  Well, that really depends on the temperament of the character in question.  Some can be down right hostile  Wink

Welcome to the Con then.  If I may suggest Avatar is an excelent larp and worth checking out but I would also suggest taking a look at the cons other larps.  for example on Thursday night at 10 the Mafia Larp will be running.  this has been going on for some time now and is very popular (like Avatar and others its storyline is also ongoing with each sessions events affecting the next).  On the far sillier but also fun side their will be a Toon (yes as in role playing cartoon characters) on sunday morning.  I've been larping for several years now and also written and run several of my own (I'm assisting on the mafia for example and co running the Toon Larp) and would be happy to help if you have any questions.

I call myself a noob cause I have never LAPRed using the Avatar system. I am more used to LARPing WoD Werewolf/ Vampire. And that is where I am bringing my Avatar character from.

It'll all make sense next week at the con when you start up as a Avatar, or bug Tiny/Barb to explain everything if not any Avatar will tell you there house is the best, except for house Lightfoot we don't need to brag about being the best, everyone just knows we LOL

IDK what your talking bout LOL, but seriously the way i've seen it with most houses in the Nexus you don't choose the house (Although you do) the house calls to you and chooses you.

LOL ok whatever. I have gotten a really small version from Tiny about how the system is run. BUT he told me the best way to learn is to play it. so I guess I will be all noob-ish. lol
