Oh my word...

Quote
Three different artists will debut in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock thanks to the Guitar Virtuoso Track Pack to be made available on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on July 24.

The pack will contain the songs "Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani, "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai and "Soothsayer" by Buckethead. All three songs are billed the press release as influential and master guitarists, so expect some challenging levels from the pack.

If you recall, Buckethead was responsible for the unlockable song Jordan in Guitar Hero II. While the other two artists are new to Guitar Hero, they are certainly accomplished. Steve Vai has performed for Halo 2 and Video Games Live along with a number of movies such as Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and has won a few Grammy Awards along with countless other recognitions. Steve Vai was actually a student of guitar instructor Joe Satriani, who gained much popularity with his Surfing with the Alien album in 1987 and went on to provide guitar duties for albums from Alice Cooper, Spinal Tap, Blue Oyster Cult and more. Santriani has been nominated for several Grammies, but unfortunately has never won, making him the artsit with the most nominations without winning.

Every song in the track pack will feature master tracks.

Meanwhile, more Dragonforce, too....

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/dragonforce-track-pack-coming-to-guitar-hero-iii/

You can say what you like about the "listenability" of Dragonforce's music, but there are two things you just can't argue with. 1. Their music is extremely difficult to play in Guitar Hero and 2. They have a hell of a talent for naming songs. Rule 2 has been proven once again with a downloadable track pack coming from the band to Guitar Hero III on August 21.

The track pack will include "'Heroes Of Our Time' (rad!) the first single from the new album Ultra Beatdown (also rad!) as well as Inhuman Rampage (totally rad!) classics 'Operation Ground and Pound' (radder!) and 'Revolution Deathsquad' (raddest!)." So, will rule 1 also be confirmed with the new pack? Well, when a song's called 'Revolution Deathsquad,' we're at least hoping to end up with some blisters.
