Holy sh*t.

OK. Vinny just dropped a bomb on us. No real surprise - he's usually a few steps ahead of the curve. ;-)

I signed on with DE back in 1999. Over time... I agree with what Tiny said at the DEXCON 8 Opening Ceremony. Double Exposure has become a family to me - as important to my world and my sense-of-self as my biological family. I literally woudn't be alive today if it wasn't for this... group of magnificient lunatics.

::ahem:: So, Vinny has announced the latest of his plans.

Gobsmacked. I was totally gobsmacked. I am agog.

I knew that such concepts as bringing the entirety of the industry together in an exchange of thoughts for the singular pursuit of excellent gaming in a cooperative mode were in the cards... *eventually*, as a pie-in-the-sky idea... but I had no idea that such a concept would be announced *now*. I, in my limited thinking, thought that Vinny just got a case of the "update the website" bug that I occasionally get with OracleNet. Obviously, I was wrong.

Vinny, this idea is almost utopian in scope. The Architect of the Matrix is down with it. :-)

It will be interesting to see how successful it is.  It has been tried in theory previously on email lists and the like to bring the industry together, but each attempt I've seen previously has failed. Gaming is VERY diverse and there are a lot of 'lone cowboy' types out there as well as corporate jockeys that believe they are too big and important to mingle with the little guys, the one man shows and the <shudder> potential players.

Me, I'm one of those mostly little guys/one man shows. I'm willing to stop in and see what becomes of all this...
