...Except that the End Times books sold ALOT of copies, and the nWoD books did the same. I'm not seeing a catastrophe here.
I'm not saying the nWoD is a catastrophe. I'm saying going back to the oWod would be calling it a catastrophe, or a at least a big enough mistake that they have to crawl back to its fans.
I'm glad that White Wolf ended the WoD when they did, since it was getting mighty stale.
But it was still incredibly popular. They could have made continued the timeless New Edition ploy of rehashing old material with updated mechanics while trying to change just enough to plug flaws but not enrage the fanboys (see the internet drama over Shadowrun ver. 4.) It still takes balls to kill your cash cow, and WW appears to have taken the huge risk for all the right reasons.
If you like the oWoD, PLAY THE OWoD!
Preach it, brother. There are no gaming police, people. No one is coming to your basement to make you convert to 3.5, and playing tournament banned cards in a casual game does not result in waking up next to a horse's head courtesy of WotC.
