Having been up way too late studying one recent night, I took a brain-break. A little punchy and *way* over-caffienated, I tuned into an episode of "Cheers" just in time for the opening titles and theme-music. Inspired, I Googled the full, unaired lyrics to the theme-song and did some tweaking. Specifically, I altered the lyrics to make them appropriate to the Nexus, and the ever-present idea of going to The Cave to make a bad situation look better (ever since I first visited The Cave in 1999, I've always thought of it as the "Cheers" of the Nexus). After sending a copy of the proto-song to Mike S., this version is now an official "Lovious-approved Cave theme song" (I made one small edit before posting here - Mike'll surely spot it ;-)).
So, I kind of envisioned this - as I often do - as a rock-video sort of thing; the music, set to a "Cheers"-style montage of still-frames of Avatars through history in The Cave.
Thanks to Mike for his infectious enthusiasm for one of my off-the-wall ideas. :-)
"Where Everybody Knows Your Pattern"
:short, ascending piano intro::
Making your way in the Nexus today takes all the EM you've got; taking a break from all your Combats sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away?
All those nights when you've got no lights, the Credits are in the mail, and your Progenitor hung the cat up by it's tail, and your fiance joined Calypso...
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You want to be where you can see our troubles are all the same; you want to be where everybody knows your name.
Roll out of bed, Mr. Fusion's dead, the cycle's looking bright. And your Mentalist's in an Echo and didn't even write; and your husband wants to be Lilith...
Be glad there's one place in Proper where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You want to go where Avatars know Avatars are all the same; You want to go where everybody knows your name.
:sax breakdown::
Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came. Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came. Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came...
