No mind.

The ultimate goal of a samurai, to empty your thoughts and become one with the world around you as you tear through it like a whirlwind on crack. If you think about anything at all, it distracts you, and before you know it there are twenty guys jumping out at you from the fucking bushes. Or in his case, the constantly-shifting terrain of the Shadowlands.

He personally didn’t want to become one with the world around him. It was pretty nasty out there. What had the little demon said? “Boring. Nothing but evil in every direction.” Scarred, rocky, tough, and it made the people who spent any time in it that way, too. He flexed his wrist to move his sword and winced as the scab there split open. Another scar to add to the landscape. Maybe this is how the Shadowlands taints. Maybe it’s not some evil magic – you just spend so long in it you become it.

He sighs and shakes his head. He gets too damn philosophical these days. Out here, there’s not time for that. Maybe it’s why he likes it so much. There’s nothing but the land below him, the sky above him, and the enemy before him. His head is clear.

No mind.

And the demons around him fall to the ground in a blur of blades, green ichor and deep red blood spraying across the landscape.

“Well, at least it’s more colorful now.”
