Awesome series.  for anyone who hasn't read, I recommend doing so.  I really hope he's able to come out with something else when SiP is finished.  The series coming to an end is really heartbreaking.

It's heartbreaking but it's been 13 years. Granted, I've only been reading for 3, it's an amazing series.

I'm really curious on whats going to happen to the trio.

We already KNOW what happens to the trio!  that's the best part of the series is that he manages to keep you asking "What happens next?!?" But we all know what happens last!

But we don't! I still say that was a teaser or a glimpse of a *possible* future but not the end all.

It recurred in several issues.  if you go back through the trades, you'll see that he does a lot of flash-arounds.  the whole thing with Katchoo in New Mexico, Francine in Hawaii.  The daughter. Mom contacting Katchoo and having her come put Francine back together...

At first I thought it was the ultimate Nexal storyline - a million possible outcomes from one set of characters.  Took until TPB 14 or 15 until it resolved into something of a mobius-strip, backward and forward telling of the story.

True, true. I need to borrow the trades again and read them from the beginning.

I'm going to be sad to see it go. I originally missed out on the original series, but I had started in the middle of the second and found hte back issues way back when. Still highly recommended after all these years. Says quite a bit about a great series and storyteller!

Wow, now there's a book I need to be doing some catching up on.  I got into SiP fairly close to the ground floor, and it has a way of sinking it's hooks into you deep.  So deep that some people, including myself, got burnt out on the yo-yo relationships of the book.  When my comic habit was doomed by the conscious decision to wait for the trades on the all books I was reading at the time (no reason to go to the store means you just stop reading), SiP was one of the ones I planned to catch up what I had enough distance from it.  I think about Volume 3, Issue Thirtysomething... I didn't so much throw my hands up as walk away from what felt like an abusive relationship.  I was one of the hardcore from SiPlist, and we all felt such a deep empathy with the characters.  I literally couldn't watch the trio go through that anymore.

I hope they get a happy ending.  They've certainly earned it.  :-\
