Hello,

Looks like a good list. I especially like Azumanga Daioh  :D. Godannar should be moved to 10PM or later  ;). Why no Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children??? Reboot was a good show. But, a whole marathon?  ???

Also Genshiken and Otaku no Video should be con staples  ;D.

In order...

Yes, Azumanga Daioh is a very good show. The turnout for it was surprising, despite it's timeslot. So I'm giving it a better one this time.

On the subject of Godannar...if you're referring to the heavy amounts of fan-service, I've taken that into consideration. That's why it's not on in the afternoon. Eight o'clock and on is just fine for PG-13-esque material. If it was truly R-rated, it would be a couple of hours later. Besides, I don't want to start STEAM too early. I've been threatened with much bodily harm if I don't show it again and I want everyone to be able to see it, including those who work late on Friday.

Why no Advent Children? I showed it twice that weekend and it was replayed in the con suite. I'm planning on having it handy for a possible Viewer's Choice request.

ReBoot...where to begin. ReBoot (especially the third season) was an extraordinary show. Good action, better drama, remarkably witty and, what with it's vast array of cultural references, it's appeal is more than 'across the board'. All that and everytime I pop in a disc during Viewer's Choice (and I always get requests for it) the rooms population spikes. I figured now is as good a time as any to do a marathon again, something I haven't done in almost ten years. Besides, what better way to mourn the subsuming of Mainframe Entertainment into the IDT conglomerate than to revel in it's signature show.

Genshiken...haven't had the chance to see it yet. Has it been domestically released yet? If not, is it available via bittorrent? Make a mention of it on the Wish List portion of the forum along with any data you may have.

Otaku no Video...don't own a copy. Not sure if it's even been re-released on DVD. Good show, but, on a personal note, I think Gainax has done better.

I've been hearing more and more about Bleach. Eventually I will get around to seeing it. I'm always looking for new stuff to keep the schedule evenly mixed with new stuff and classics.

Now let's be honest...Real Media? Why not drop a lit M-80 into my Mac and then put out the smoldering remains with a bottle of Mountain Dew. (Neverending Sooooodaaaaa!!! - props to Homestarrunner) Thank you for the generous offer, but I've gone out of my way to keep Real Poison out of my computer. Seriously though, I'm sure I can find a torrent for a batch o' episodes somewhere.

By the way, are you telling me there will be no pinball games outside the room?

Till then, be seeing you...

It will be Star Blazers season one, The Quest for Iscandar. I recently came into posession of most of the first season. Hopefully I'll have the whole set by showtime. But even if I don't, oh well. All in due time.

Here's the finalized schedule, descriptions included and a few changes made. Hopefully this will keep everyone entertained and satisfied. We've got old and new stuff, horror, comedy, drama, giant robots and cute girls who blow $h!t up. That should cover pretty much all the bases...and the first one who says "tentacles" or worse, "Disney", gets BANNED!!!

Till then, be seeing you...

Head Anime/Video Room Monkey

WEDNESDAY

6PM - "Viewer's Choice"

THURSDAY

2PM - 4PM - "Azumanga Daioh": Japanese high school life is thrown into sharp relief in this "slice of life" comedy revolving around six unique students and their weirdo teachers.

4PM - 6PM - "Ghost Stories": What happens when a mediocre anime is dropped into the laps of a pack of american voice actors with a gift for wicked improvisation? A hilariously twisted show in the tradition of "What's Up Tiger Lily?".

6PM - 12AM - "ReBoot III": Mainframe Entertainment's magnum opus, complete and uncut. In the aftermath of the Web World War, Mainframe's darkest hour is still to come. Guardian Bob is lost in the Web. The viral forces of Megabyte and Hexadecimal are making their bid for total domination. And all the while, a new threat looms in the distance, the super-virus Daemon.

12AM - "Viewer's Choice"

FRIDAY

12PM - 2PM - Nostalgia @ Noon "Star Blazers - The Quest For Iscandar": The perennial classic Space Opera. In the wake of an interstellar war with the Gamillons, Earth is left a radioactive wasteland. The Space Force must reach Starsha of Iscandar, who holds the key to our world's salvation, while evading the forces of Leader Desslok.

2PM - 4PM - "Azumanga Daioh": see above

4PM - 6PM - "801 T.T.S. Airbats": Getting transferred to an all-female aerial acrobatic team may not sound like a bad thing, right? But what if the two lead pilots, already bitter rivals, decide to add you to the list of things to fight over? Now add the threat of budget cuts and disbandment to the already seething cauldron of tension. Still sound good? Fly the Friendly Skies of this aerobatic romantic comedy!

6PM - 8PM - "Venus Wars": Decades after Venus is terra-formed and colonized, war has broken out between it's two nations. A pack of demolition derby racers and an Earth reporter must decide whether to watch from the sidelines or to take up arms to repel the occupying invaders. Based on the manga series by master writer/artist Yoshikazu Yasuhiko.

8PM - 10PM - "Shinkon Gattai Godannar": It's pretty bad when the bride is left at the altar in the middle of her wedding. But isn't an attack by giant monsters a valid reason when the groom is a robot pilot? But wait, there's more! What if he met the bride in the process of rescuing her five years ago from the same monstrous threat? And what if you add in the loss of his previous fiancee during that rescue? Believe it or not, you get a hilarious, fan-service-ridden giant robot saga that strains the limits of marital responsibility...if they finally ever tie the knot, that is!

10PM - 12:30AM - Anime Fan Parodies "S.T.E.A.M.: The Movie" & "Evangelion: ReDeath": Back by way of many threats of bodily harm popular demand!!

12:30AM - 2AM - "Trinity Blood": Armageddon has left the world ravaged and war is raging between humans and vampires. Desperate to stem the tide of rampaging undead, the Vatican employs an elite squad of vampire killers. Among these hunters is Abel Nightroad, a seemingly sickly man who feasts on the blood of his undead prey. He, and the young girl Esther, may also be the answer to the ultimate triumph of the human race over the vampiric hoards.

2AM - "Viewer's Choice"

SATURDAY

10AM - 12PM - Saturday Morning Cartoon Revival "Jonny Quest": Back before Broadcast Standards & Practices turned kids programming into squeaky-clean, smurf-a-rific pap, there was the gritty, bodies-stack-high adventures of Jonny Quest. Take note, kiddies...this is a show with real values. Forget the public service messages of G.I. Joe, Jonny Quest teaches us the most important lesson...if you're evil, YOU'RE TOAST!!

12PM - 2PM - Nostalgia @ Noon "Star Blazers": see above

2PM - 4PM - "Mai-HiME": Didn't you wish you had superpowers when you were in high school? Sure you did! But what if that power came with a terrible price? Tokiha Mai and her sickly brother may have to face this question as they transfer to Fuuka Academy. Secrets, intrigue and a frightful struggle take place behind the scenes of the prestigious school.

4PM - 6PM - "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam II - Lovers": A new, updated version of one of the greatest space opera/giant robot series in honor of Mobile Suit Gundam's 25th anniversary. Years after the near-apocalyptic One Year War, the Titans have been charged by Earth's government to root out seeds of dissent throughout the solar system with an iron fist. Camille Vidan, a young, ace robot pilot, experiences their tyranny first-hand. His loss spurs him to take up arms with the growing rebel forces and their fight for freedom.

6PM - 8PM - Bad Anime, Bad!! - "Frankenstein": Look folks, I'm not keen on the dead walking the land, but I would have no problem with Mary Shelly rising from the grave to punish the people who mangled her literary classic in such a base fashion. And yet, it's sooooo bad, it's hysterical! Running commentary and psychological counseling will be provided by the jerk that found the DVD anime room emcee.

8PM - 10PM - "Ghost Stories": see above

10PM - 11PM - "Hellsing Ultimate": The darker, bloodier and more-faithful-to-the-source adaptation of Kouta Hirano's epic of vampire violence. A Royal Ordained Order of Knights, the Hellsing Organization must protect England from all manner of undead creatures while keeping the citizenry ignorant of their existence. In an ironic twist, the ultimate weapon against such threats is the master vampire Alucard, controlled by Hellsing for generations.

11PM - 12AM - "Madlax": From the creators of Noir comes a new tale of mystery, mercenaries, and lost memories. Madlax is an assassin employed as a tool in a civil war. Margaret is a student who lives an easy life in the big city. Living in completely different worlds they end up journeying together to the holy land to solve a mystery and uncover the truth. But is it a truth they can bear to learn?

12AM - 2AM - "Monster": Kenzou Tenma, a gifted surgeon, has seen many ups and downs in life. His rising career and high-profile fiancee seemed secure until a morally correct decision left him the victim of hospital politics. Later a series of bizarre murders have put him at the top of the hospital staff, and the list of suspects. Now Dr. Tenma must clear his name and find out if the killing spree is connected to the boy who's life he saved on that fateful day.

2AM - "Viewer's Choice"

SUNDAY
10AM - 12PM - "The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers": In 2086 two peaceful aliens came to Earth, seeking our help. In return they gave us the designs for our first hyperdrive and the key to interstellar travel. Can the newly formed Galaxy Rangers bring peace to the New Frontier or will the evil Queen of the Crown add Earth to her shadowy dominion?

12PM - 2PM - Nostalgia @ Noon "Star Blazers": see above

2PM - 4PM - Kung-Fu Theater "Ong Bak - Thai Warrior": (Live-Action) The tag-line of the movie, "No Strings Attached", is delivered with astonishing sincerity by internationally hailed Muy Thai kickboxer Tony Jaa in his worldwide and wire-works-free debut. A must-see for all martial arts fans!

4PM - Dead Dog Anime: For those who have the Constitution stats to see it through to the very end! Potluck, random and no-holds-barred! If you want to see it and we have it, SO SHALL IT BE!!

Mac or not, Real Media is still poison. (defers to my own experience and Yuri's expert analysis)

Microsoft has never built a satisfactory player for Mac and their WMV encoding is teh suk (looks like crap). WMPlayer won't even play mpg's or avi's on a Mac. How weak is that?

And by the way, there is fault in my using a Mac, drop it on Microtheftsoft. I work with video and retouch images, ergo I use the machine that's best suited for it. Maybe if I feel rather Van Gogh-ish and feel like having a BLUE PERIOD too I'll boot up Photoshop on a PC.

And don't think of drawing me further into a Mac vs. PC debate (re: snark-fest). I've used both extensively and made my choice accordingly. I edit video, I don't play computer games and porn works on both platforms. Ya gotta use with what works best, depending one's specific needs. 'Nuff said!

P.S.: Diss Macs in front of Diane at your own risk. Her Powerbook kicks most PC desktops right in the Dells.  :o

In front of Diane? How about the guy who runs the company? There's no way I could run the conventions on anything BUT Mac.

I never derided macs.

I said I had the shows I wanted him to see in the one format.  he said he didn't have anything to watch them on, because he uses a mac. frankly, considering what he does, I'm not surprised.  if I was in his position, I would be too.  I've used both.

again, I point to what Dr. Steed said in this thread as an opinion I agree with 100%.

Brian, looks like I'll go to the old standby... I'll see if I can stop by on Wednesday for you to watch the first ep... I know I have that on my laptop, and I'll bring the CD... I MIGHT (if I get an ok, not asking here, will ask at the con) to play it on one of the LAN's comps when no one is using it.

Sounds cool. You'll have to ask the people involved about using the LAN.

I've heard from others that Bleach is pretty cool. And a long series, at that. It looks like it reaches well over seventy episodes. Torrents for avi's are out there but Viz has licensced it, so finding it is a little more difficult...but not impossible. It IS the internet, after all.  ;)

Hey,

Dunno if you've been reading the thread in "Weird Links" about Jackie Chan in City Hunter. Either way I'd like to bring my copy of the City Hunter live-action movie for viewer's choice one night - problem is, it's VHS. Do you guys still use the ancient tech of video tapes? ;-)

bleach is currently on anime ep 87, manga somewhere in the lower 200's.  naruto, by reflection, I think is on ep 160-ish in Japan, about ep 50 in US, according to what's being aired on Cartoon network.

Dattebayo is still fansubbing, since there's a good distance in between what's coming out and what's been dubbed into english.  if you need AVI files... I'll see what I can do... only easy finds are for eps 50+, since that's what is still available from Dattebayo.
