Cassockwell- on the green carpet
« on: July 20, 2006, 01:12:54 PM »

The blue lightning deposits the entity triad of Cassockwell on a familiar hill in the Land of Sunshine.  A few bunnies scatter a bit but take up a position 20 yards or so away to watch, and 5 larger rabbits with a blue lightning-shaped patch of fur on each side hop determindedly forward and form a ring around the tri-Avatar.

The lone cloud in the sky (named Shazam after a friend) closes in to hover directly above.

Lysander is standing at the top of the hill with his back toward the new arrival, looking off into the distance.  He is silent for the moment.

(I've checked the forums for indications of whether Cassockwell is still Cassie, Socket, and Maxwell combined, some references only say "Casket" so I'm not sure.  Either way all three Avatars got zapped here, so if necessary just adjust some descriptions below to match the facts of the current combination, whatever it is)

Lysander turns to the three-in-onesome.  Staring at Cassie's form, he does some Frame of Reference adjusting and images of Maxwell and Socket appear to either side of her.

"Socket, Maxwell...  You know I think of you... well, not as my sons, but as...  my own little crosses to bear.  I know you like blowing things up, and generally causing trouble.  And you know I haven't really interfered with that.

"But, I'm curious if you can remember..."

The even tone of his voice gives way to the frustration.

"What is the ONE BLESSED THING I have EVER tried to teach you the LEAST BIT OF RESPECT FOR?"

The boys may not fear him.  They may not be interested in self-preservation.  Nonetheless, they know this is NOT the time to Cleese it up.

OOC: And yet, being Cleese, they'll do it anyway...

(as far as I'm aware, Socket and Cassie are merged and Maxwell is just inside. their status didn't change at Dexcon)

"I for one have quite a bit of respect for you, mostly for having to deal with us.  Other than that, did it have something to do with not electing you as our Council rep?  Because we totally didn't elect you again."

(ooc: damn the torpedoes, full Cleese ahead! - you know restraint in the face of utter doom isn't one of our strong points. or restraint at all for that matter...  :-X )

"Yes.  It has something to do with that.

"The Council.  Fulfilling your House's obligation to elect a valid Councilor.

"Now I know this is perhaps a stretch for Cleese logic, but if I wanted you to actually elect a proper Councilor and actually attend the occasional meeting, didn't you think blowing up the Council Chamber, in session no less, may-- just may-- be something that I would frown upon?"

"And yet the Council prevails!  Vaporizing it was actually a move of empowerment for the Coucil and giving hope of continued strength for the future.  By blowing the crutch a few lackluster blowhards were using to keep progress and unified power to a minimum to atomic ash, their minds may begin grasp the notion that the power of the Council comes FROM THE COUNCILORS and not a silly piece of furniture.  You cannot reason with a blockade and our action spoke much louder than any futile words."

*a moment of pause*

"Yeah, what he said.  We blew it up for good things like that."

"Are you saying there was confusion as to whether the Council or the Table held the actual power?"

Cassie chimes in. "Yes, actually. There was this growing sentiment that the Councilors could not do certain things because the table would have the final say. Rather than allow the Council to be bogged down under the oppressive regime of the Warden's table, they can now be bogged down under their self-made oppressive regime, which is subject to change every year or so. It's actually a bit more stable than the table - wobbly corners notwithstanding - because Avatars remain consistent while things like the table are subject to, shall we say, Whimsy.

"Besides, no one was hurt and Cleese remained active in the meeting afterwards. Is this not a good thing?"

Lysander raises an eyebrow slightly with her use of the word "Whimsy", as if he can see that she capitalized the W, but says nothing about it.

"Your definition of hurt seems restricted to the physical.  And the misconceptions of the role of the Table could have been remedied without its destruction.  It is a useful tool, and the Council agreed to accept it.  Until a majority of the Councilors no longer want it, there will be a Council Table. I will see to that.

"But the Chamber needs to be rebuilt.  Whatever good results your action may have had, and except for pointing out my own deficiency on the protection of the Chamber itself I doubt there were any as useful as you say, the reconstruction needs to be done.

"And you three shall do it.

"By hand."

OOC: This I have to see. How much do you want to bet the council chamber will have a VERY different look after these three get done.

"Dear Lysander, the majority of the elected Councilors did *not* want the table; they were only too frightened of the consequences of destroying it."

Cassie smiles sweetly. "As for the chamber itself, is there any particular theme you'd like? A nice heavy wood trim repeated across everything? My personal preference is towards plain steel flooring and walls, but I understand many beings find that... unfriendly."

"I'm a big fan of flaming torches and stonework myself.  But as far as furniture goes... would you be so kind as to explain 'The Table' and its true purpose?  Perhaps we misunderstood this purpose and it really does have a use that the Council needs?"

"Sweet Cassie, if they don't want the Table, they can say so with a majority vote.  You three pre-empted that process.  If you don't see that then you do not understand the basics.  And again, fear of the Table could have been rectified by the truth, and even once all understood its role, they would still be free to send it away.  Socket, such explanations will be forthcoming, but to the whole Council, not just the three of you.

"Green tells me it was unanimous when they accepted the Table back.  If in the next session the majority wanted it gone again, then Avatars are far from the consistent lot Cassie just claimed.

"And the previous Chamber style will do nicely, thank you, but I'll leave that to the Council.  The main point is that the door be in the same place so that it connects with the Hotel when it manifests.

"And for that to happen you'll have to turn the crater back into level ground again.  I will bring back the material, and provide the shovels."

In the distance, blue lightning strikes and a mound of loose earth rises up next to the crater, likely causing some concern to the beings already working there.  If any were knocked into the crater, Lysander is now actually looking at what he's doing and they will be levitated back to the rim.
