This event  (Convert-O-Rama)  is still listed as August 18-20 instead of the new dates of August 25-27.  This is going to confuse people who have not been reading the forum.

I was busy yesterday, and didn;t get a chance to change it. Besides, there is no reason why people shouldn;t be reading the forum :)

Hello Vinny:

You don't seem to understand the situation of people who are off-line.  That was me until July 7 when I got my new computer hooked up.  From time to time I would use a friend's computer just to check the events listing.  I wouldn't want to just sit there and read the forum.  That would have been rude of me.

There must still be plenty of people who are off-line.  Perhaps their computer is down.  Perhaps they are between computers.   It would be a sad thing for people to show up on the wrong day, just because they lack internet access.

There might well be other reasons why people would be checking the events listing but not reading the forum.  We want to attract new players to the game.  What happens if a newbie turns up on the wrong day the first time they attend an event?  A player lost forever.

I know my posting here belies this a bit, but some of us also have trouble using the forum software.

When I got the email announcement for "URGENT! POSSIBLE DATE CHANGE FOR CONVERT-O-RAMA!" I sat stunned for a minute wondering what on earth "Convert-O-Rama" was.  I even came to the thread and glanced through it and still wasn't sure.  It was days later when I finally found out it was Restaurant renamed, and I only found out then because I asked D.

I can also comfirm that when I am updating various event calendars, I check the events page, but not the forum.

OK, first, I put a smiley on my comment.

Second, there is a lot of stuff going on on the Forum, and some of it was important, such as a vote about what to do with Restaurant - obviously, you missed that if you didn't know what Convert-O-Rama iis. The ONLY actual problem with using this software is using AOL as an ISP - other than that, anyone with an internet connection and any operating system of Windows 98/Mac OS 8.6 or higher should be able to use it. This is a community. Double Exposure does not just do things in a vacuum, we work with our players and friends to make decisions and to make sure everyone feels involved. That's what the Forum is all about.

And humor is always appreciated.

I do appreciate the email notifications for key announcements.  Those are a big help.
