Hey all!

I was talking to my Mother and she has expressed an interest in trying a computer game. She doesn’t know much about computers but she’d like to learn.

Since I don’t know much about what is out on the market, I’m asking for suggestions for her. Nothing terribly complicated and on the fluffy side would be best. She’s a huge fan of Disney and if she had a PS2, I’d be suggesting that she pick up ‘Kingdom Hearts’, however that isn’t an option.

Is there anything like this out there that might be something I can suggest to her or possibly buy her for?

Is she on the web?  Head her over to Pogo.com.  (There are many other, similar sites, but I'd recommend Pogo, especially for a newbie.)  The games there are free, and there are inexpensive downloadable games with free trial, and a community to help with them.

You don't specify what type of games she's interested in.  Pogo's got puzzles, arcade, board/card games, casino games (for "tokens", not money), sports, casual sports (bowling, etc.) -- a little bit of everything.  And again, it's all free, although there is a paid level with even more games, and a lot of bells & whistles.

What are they?

I think I want to try and stay fluffy though.

OKay. I'll send her over there to see if anything strikes her fancy.

See, we aren't really sure what she wants to try and play, so I figured that I'd find a bunch of options together for her. My impression that she's looking for somethign that she can load sans the internet. I'd love to have try out Myst, but theres a lot of hidden stuff and I think she'd get frustrated.

Thanks Linda!

You can always set up an emulator or 2. Maybe one of NES or SNES. If you want I can aid you in setting them up, seeing as I am a moderator and head of emulations on an emu web-site.

And look on the bright side. If your mom takes a good strong interest in gaming, she'd be just like Granny HardcoreGrin Grin Grin

pogo.com is a good site...

www.slingo.com is another site, similar to pogo.  a lot of "casino-like" games, there, but with a leaning towards the non-serious.

www.popcap.com for downloadable, trial games she can play (and eventually buy)

Soft and fluffy

SIMS the first version.

Fun to play easy controls and you get to design a house.
The deluxe version cones with 2 expansions costs between $15 - $20
there is a new super deluxe package that comes with all the expansions, but without knowing if you like the game thats nuts, unless you can find it real cheap.   Grin
