So it's that time again, time for me to write previews that most none of you are ever going to read but I do it because I enjoy it. So there

Origins previews have started and here I am to give you the low-down as they come. So far they've given the stats for three figures (2 LEs and one U) and they've announced one other LE. The one that was only announced was one of the two (!) convention LEs there will be this year (see the Supernova previews thread for the other one, it's a doozy). The one from Origin however is pretty kewl on its own: The Dark Knight. It'll be a Batman figure with the Superman TA. Nothing further on this guy yet, so I'll just get to the ones we do have.
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=12576First up I have for you the Brick LE for Origin, Dr. Fate! This shows right away how this set will concentrate more on golden age characters with a smattering of the new characters from the current 52 and One Year Later storylines. The GA Fate looks great and is pretty decent, even if he seems like a few too many points for what he can do. At 134 points with the JSA TA, he's got a good complement of support and offensive powers. He starts off with phasing, but goes quickly into running shot, allowing for good opening mobility. That mobility will allow him to help his allies quite a bit, considering he's got a good amount of probability control and perplex throughout his dial. Defensively he opens up with toughness for three slots, switches to energy shield/deflection for a while, and ends up with barrier. Finally, he has incapacitate surrounding two clicks of telekinesis, and all of that is followed by some psychic blast. Altogether he's not all that bad, but the virtually naked last couple of clicks with only barrier and one slot of prob control will leave him pretty vulnerable. Especially when he has a short range of 6, even though it's kind of mitigated by having 2 targets.

Also from the golden age, she's a much less powerful version of the character we've seen a couple of times in clix already; but that's ok as she's a pretty good bargain in points for what she can do. For only 51 points you get someone with some good numbers and just enough powers, not too much. Her first slot has super strength and battle fury with a good damage of 3. After that she pulls out her lasso, as she loses BF and can actually use her range of 4. She gets three slots of incap, which is then followed by two of flurry, and finally two of close combat expert. Throughout all of this she's not bad on defense, as she starts with three of toughness and ends with five of combat reflexes. Honestly, paying only 51 points for 8 clicks of life, where she's pretty dangerous on every single one of them...like I said, a decent bargain.

Here's an instance, where with the creation of this character in clix, we now have everyone in his lineage. Ted Knight was the first one to use the cosmic rod to battle evil. We also got his son way back in Cosmic Justice, and we got Stargirl in Legacy. Now we have the original, and he's not all that bad. 106 points with the JSA TA (I'm loving the amount of JSA in this set), and he is the quintessential ranged attacker. Two slots of running shot coupled with three of energy explosion let him devastate groups of opponents, while an opening click of leadership gets his own allies out on the field. That's followed by two clicks of ranged combat expert for big damage, and then FIVE clicks of perplex. His defense is evenly split between ES/D and barrier, and he has three ending clicks of force blast to keep himself out of trouble if anyone comes after him.
There you have it, the first real look at figures from Origin. Hope you enjoy.
