Evil Dead- The Musical
« on: October 13, 2006, 02:22:32 AM »

I saw Army of Darkness, but not Evil Dead 1 or 2, except the very end of 2 on TV.  I wasn't bowled over by them , but THIS I loved!  And what little I knew of the movies made me love it all the more.  The musical uses both 1 and 2, and some famous lines from AoD. Plus lots of singing, dancing and fight choreography.  Now the movies don't exactly take themselves seriously, but this was wayyyy over the top, and way funny.

Those of you who liked those movies MUST get into NYC to see this.  If you're in the first 4 rows you might even get splattered with blood!  In the mens room afterward the line for the sink (to wash off the blood) was longer than the line for the urinals.  (It washes out easily, but, um, don't wear suede to the theater.)

My review:

Go see it.

Have now seen it twice, it's campy, it's cheesy. God, it's wonderful.

Sit in the front 2 rows. Absolutely worth it.

If you do sit in the two front rows, or anywhere up to the fifth row for that matter, I repeat, don't wear suede.
