To all of our friends in the gaming industry,
Double Exposure, Inc. would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season!
2006 has been a year filled with highs and lows for us; my parents were ill and we spent a great deal of time taking care of them, and even while were doing that, we ran 3 1/2 hugely successful conventions, including one of the largest DEXCONs ever. And while we had some personal issues and changes which took up most of our time during the second half of the year, Avie, Kate and I will be entering 2007 strong and whole.
We will be consolidating our efforts in 2007; as you already know, we will no longer be running Southern Exposure. In addition, we'd like to take this opportunity to make the announcement that DEXCON will no longer be producing INTERCON NORTHEAST. It will of course still be a significant venue for Interactive Fiction, but it will not be under the LARPA license.
There are several reasons for this; this past weekend, we had a long conversation about it with Gordon Olmstead-Dean, the CSO of LARPA, and primary among the issues is a lack of current resources to make the experience a real INTERCON. Gordon and other members of the LARPA leadership will be working on his new campaign, Threads of Damocles, and most of the Double Exposure team will be focused on expanding ALL areas of DEXCON - in 2006, there was no specific onsite management of the INTERCON track, so we spent a great deal of energy making sure it ran smoothly, to the obvious detriment of other tracks.
We will be looking forward to working with Gordon through larpwriting.org in the future on several joint projects. And of course, any GM team that wants to run a work of Interactive Fiction is welcome to bid for a spot at DEXCON 10. We will also be welcoming our usual groups back, PST Productions, FishDevil Productions, Mystic Realms, and many others!
We look forward to seeing all of you at DREAMATION 2007 in January to start the new year off with a bang!
