I wanted to pass a message of caution, on that I read on one of my favorite WoW sites.

Many stores will be having midnight hours in order to sell copies of The Burning Crusade.  For those going out there tonight, braving whatever, to own their copies: PLEASE TAKE CARE!  WoW is a great game, but it is nothing to put yourself in danger over.  I want to see you all safe and sound at DREAMATION, and online.  Good Luck, and good hunting.  (Oh and now there is absolutely no excuse for all of you to not roll Horde!  We HAVE THE CUTE CHICKS!!!!   Kiss Shocked Grin Cool)

Perks of working at a mall, I just had a short walk to Gamestop. Was like 20th in line (would've been earlier but I had to work till closing). Around 11:30 is when people started piling in. But it wasn't bad. They held a race dance-off for a $25 Gamestop gift card. Was awesome.

Now to finish the install Tongue

My EB takes care of me.

I was at work when EB opened.  I walked down from work, saw the line of 500 people.

At that point I walked in to the front of the line, where the guy behind the counter handed me my two copies of the collectors editions, and walked out to go back to work.

Yeah, mall perks for the win.

25 hours and counting till I can get my copy (need to get paid first).

What I'm wondering is how many people are going to take full advantage and play a dranei shaman and/or blood elf paladin? I'm gonna do the first one but not the other...blood elf warlock FTW!

well, let's see... on Lothar, 12:30 AM (TBC street legal +30 minutes) on January 16th, I saw approximately 50 Draenei, and heard about 20 people already in the Hellfire Penninsula.

last night, around 11:00 PM, I saw a Level TWENTY shaman walk by me in Westfall....

and I had the Outland server crash about five times.... the ENTIRE server was restarted twice, and I ran a 5-man.  not bad for the first night.

my shammy is already created... just have to hope the server gets a bit more stable, then I'll start leveling him.

Best Buy for me  Smiley

I've heard from various players that about 50% of all the WoW servers crashed within 12 hours of BC launch due to massive player count (Dalaran did not crash at all. Considering it's history, I'm very surprised by this.)

That said; after starting a BE Paladin (Bokusatsu) I was reminded how much people do NOT read. I think I answered the same question 4 times in 3 minutes, after that I turned off the General chat channel.

Hey Ted...you really weren't watching on release then.  Dalaran's worldserver crashed 5 times for me opening night.  Daikini'd be a level 20 Pally if it weren't for those crashes.

Better than some of the other names i've seen.

Example: Myalt, Ihatepallys, Notapally, 4 bad spellings of LOTR characters, Many bad spellings of D&D characters, among other 'notable' choices.

I started checking at about noonish. After I picked up BC, I did the install and upgrade then I went to bed. I knew there would be WAY too many players online and the servers would be running very slow if at all. The five minutes or so that I had a character in Outland, I was lucky to get 20fps, which I haven't seen I installed the extra memory in the computer.

According to Geoff, there was a level 70 in existence within 28 hours of the xpac going live.

The person ran around tagging mobs, and the entire rest of his guild followed behind him and slaughtered them in his wake.  He got the kill, cause he tagged them.

How scary is that?

The best pally name I saw running around the new BE zones before I got my ass back into Outland was 'Nerfmyclass'

I think he's around level 25 now too.
