The only holo cards are promo cards, or loot cards from raid decks I believe. Rarity is denoted by the set icon down at the bottom of the card. White for common, Green for uncommon, Blue for rare, Purple for epic, Orange for legendary(aka the scratch off loot cards).

what faction are you playing first, Horde, Alliance? Epic Rares are normal cards but the bottom words on the bottom of the cards IE http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/includes/viewcard.aspx?cid=514614 thats an Epic Rare from Dark Portal and the deck u create whats its Primary Function and Secondary Function IE healer/tank Healer/protector i have 2 tank decks Troll Fire Mage, and Orc Warlock Demonology. Working on a Taurin Shaman deck FOR THE HORDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the deck u create is ur choice, what u perfer, read through the rule book to understand how the deck is constructed. once you understand the basics, you can create a foundation for your deck on what you want to play and what he/she is going to do.

Well, its not hard to play, but the strategy is pretty deep, because just like the MMO, you choose a character class to play. Each character class has its own nifty dirty tircks, like Shamans and totems, Druid and their forms, Pallies and their blessings/seals/auras, etc. So each character type is going to play just slightly diffrently than another.
And also there are two major game forms, PvP, which is your standard duel. And the other form is "Raid", where you and a bunch of your buddies get together and go up against a single "raid" deck, which is based around he monsters of one of the major instance dungeons like Onyxia's lair or Molten Core, being played by another person. And really it usually needs to be at least a 5 on 1 to win, with a good balanced team of healing, tanking, and damage dealing...again just like a raid in the MMO.
So many players out there will maintain 2 decks, one for PvP, which is built to smash their opponents usually ASAP. And then they'll have a "raid" deck, which is tuned for survival and helping a group. Personally, I play a hunter for PvP, and a Paladin for raid.
It's good stuff. If you like CCG's, and the WoW-verse, ask someone you see playing to show you. The rules are pretty simple, it's just knowing the cards and what your opponent is capable of that makes it hard.
