« on: May 13, 2007, 11:13:59 PM »

Ok ive finally gotten tired of using my parents 4 year old low end E-Machines computer and crashing when i go to play solitaire...Im looking for an inexpensive gaming rig desktop that when I buy an recently released game i don't have to worry that it will make my computer explode...If anyone would have any suggestions it would be appreciated

Up until last month, I was playing EQ on a rig I built in 2002, out of not very cutting edge parts, with a then obsolete operating system. If the game isn't terribly intense, you should be able to build one out of used parts for a few hundred bucks.

Cutting edge games that take advantage of modern systems will still probably make it explode though.

Check Ars Technica's Ultimate Budget Box guide

Pretty good for ~$500 including monitor, but no OS
