More "Block Programming" Ideas
« on: August 16, 2007, 11:08:43 PM »

Hey All!

I had a brainstorm the other day and I want to try and develop it further. In keeping with the block programming I tried out at last Dreamation (Fantasy-Fest) I'm thinking of doing a two-day block for the next con. More specifically, the next con where I have the entire day to run stuff and am not time-sharing with the Cherry Hill Experiment. After all, it'd be a waste to dedicate a whole day of entertainment on just half a day, no?

Anyway, I was watching Outlaw Star over the course of a few days and the "Pirates vs. Ninja" debate popped into my over-wracked brain, digested for a bit and seemed to stick. Basically it would be one day dedicated to each. In the spirit of group participation I'm thinking of keeping a clipboard with a survey handy at all times. Anyone interested would check off their preference alongside their name/badge number (to prevent a tainted poll...no hanging chads, dammit!!!).

Finding stuff to show for these would be pretty easy but I'm in the market for suggestions.

PIRATES
My Youth In Arcadia/Harlock Saga
Space Pirate Mito
Black Lagoon
The Pirates of Dark Water
Sol Bianca
Outlaw Star

NINJA
Yotoden/Wrath of the Ninja
Dagger of Kamui
Ninja Scroll (late night only...I may even close the doors and card people)
Lupin III movie "Dragons of Doom"
S.T.E.A.M.: The Movie ("Can you spot the ninja? And remember kids, dress invisibly!")
Science Ninja Team Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets

I know there are many more possibilities that I can't think of right now so I'm appreciate any suggestions to add to the list. All suggestions will be given the usual consideration...VERY LITTLE!!! ;D

Seriously though, please post any ideas you may have. As always, I want to make the anime room more than just a place to hang out in between games, but an experience unto itself.

Till then, be seeing you...

Some other ideas that I may explore later...

"Fly The Friendly Skies"
Aeronautical/Pilots titles (Macross Plus, Airbats, Last Exile, Yukikaze, etc)

"Run Silent - Run Deep"
Submariner stuff (Blue Sub No.6, key eps of Nadia, Silent Service, Tide Line Blue)

"Gods & Devils - Angels & Demons"
(Devil Man, Devil Hunter Yohko, Arion, Saint Seiya, Ah! My Goddess, Beating-to-death Angel Dokuro-chan, Eva, Wicked City)

"Bloodsuckers Anonymous"
Vampires...duh! (Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D, Trinity Blood, Blood the Last Vampire/Blood+, Master of Mosquiton, Vampire Wars...ugh!, Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned...double ugh!!)

There could even be themes of giant robots (which would ROCK!), high school hijinks, fantastically female ass-kickers (yet more ROXXORS!!), things that go "bump!" in the night/ghosties & ghoulies, you get the gist.

Later,
Brian & Malak
