Um...
« on: September 22, 2007, 09:46:52 PM »

So I'm watching an old episode Law & Order and they start talking about a Lexus luxury car. Briscoe 'guesses' the car is black. I think to myself "Weren't they originally made only in black? ...no, wait, I seem to recall first-gen silver Lex... Lex... Lexuses? Lexii?" And my brain promptly crashed.

Friends, Romans, countrymen - but especially English majors and other cunning linguists - what, pray, is the plural of 'Lexus'?

According to Car Talk, it's "Lexera"  (in the same way that Opus has the plural of Opera).  According to nearly everything else, it's "Lexi."

But according to the source itself, Lexus, the plural of Lexus is Lexus.

It was the Model T that came in every color you wanted as long as it was black
