"Meeper" levels?
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:36:27 PM »

I've seen, next to posters' names, the "Meeper" qualification ranging from "New Meeper" to "Mega Meeper" It seems to be related to the number of forum messages posted by the member.

Okay, having figured that much out, is there a guide someplace to the ranks and what level of, um..., postage is required to meet each of them?

One "...promotion to Senior..." at a time, thank you.

 ::) Considering you once announced:
I *hate* message boards.  Sorry, there it is.

and said in the very same post:
I'll be the grumpy [emphasis mine-PSB] one checking on those threads I actually have some responsibility for, and hoping somebody sends me the link to anything else they think I should know.

I can only chuckle at the "Super Meeper" giving me a hard time, and agree. You do post way too much!

Yeah, yeah, I know.  It's because I made this forum my home page; it's the only way I could keep up with the stuff I needed to read.  And you know how mouthy I can get ...

I missed when it actually happened, but....

I've made "Senior Meeper"!

And I have comprised a best-guesstimate for the Meep-Advancement Chart. I could tell you, but then...

Yeah, good question.

I've seen the following "star patterns":

five green
five red
one gold
two gold
three gold
four gold

And they seem to be totally independent of "meeper level." Still no real clue as to what the distinguishing characteristic is, though.

I think they're somewhat related to staff.  It seems that those who are "Official DE [insert duty here]" get the five stars of various colors (ie.: Avie & Vinny are admins with red stars, Bill is senior staff with green stars).  The multiples of gold stars I haven't quite figured out, but they must not be related to number of posts since I've seen users that have accumulated multiple hundreds of those and yet only have one gold star while there are some with only dozens of posts who have multiple gold stars.

Sorry to poke a hole in your theory, but it appears to not account for my lack of 5 starredness. Unless, of course, I am simply the red headed stepchild of the starring system.

P.S. Perhaps it has to do with generating replies. or being quoted. Or something like that.

my conclusions are that:

star level is rank within the system. It says senior staff next to my name, I have 5 stars. (it doesn't say senior staff next to Zane. Have that checked, or do you use other IDs?)
color is related to post level.
