There's the new controller for the Revolution. Nintendo sure does have a way with innovation, huh? The true definition of hand-held gaming  ;D

Wait quick q. Is this the same Mike that watched me humiliate myself playing darts in the Con Suite at Dexcon?

I dunno. I like the one-handed operation (leaves the other hand free to take a drink, score some munchies, or flip through a strategy guide), but I think things are getting too complicated. When the SNES came out, I loved the two trigger-switches and the extra two command-buttons (and SNES did it right - the concave/convex format really made play-control easy to adapt by touch). Then the N64 came out and that control was just... odd. With the GameCube, things continued downhill. I wonder if NOA is trying too hard on its interfaces, and not trying hard enough on software development (though the contract with Retro Studios mitigates a *lot* of that worry - Retro's work on the Metroid series has been phenomenal to date).

Personally, I tend to think that the SNES had the right control-set for basic console gaming, and that the Dualshock-2 is the perfect pad for advanced gaming.

the dualshock is a good controler but i personally think that the XBox controller is better not the huge bulky one the new one

i also think that nintendo is gonna take a nose dive on thisone

While I admit the S-Type is a vast improvement over the old 'Burger' I still find myself struggling to find the buttons by touch (And I've now had plenty of time to 'break in' my S-Type)  Having to take your eyes of the screen to look down at a controller just... irks me.  I've yet to really sit down with the controller of a XBox 360, so I cannot comment on the feel of that one.  The 'improvements' of the 360 just have not impressed me much at all. Combined with the steep entry price for it, I'll pass for the short term future.

Perfect Dark Zero (.... I've been playing the original for the N64 lately.... Urg! Too... good... Annoying controller, but... too.. good!) and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion may change that for me, but currently there's also just no games out on the 360 that interest me.

I like a lot of FPSs... But to me, NO FPS is EVER going to make me run out and buy any sort of hardware.  No... Not even Halo 3.  And before all those who realize that I bought a GameCube almost exclusively for Metroid Prime and Prime 2... I'll preemptively rebuke that with what I've said in the past, first, I consider Metroid Prime to be a First Person Platformer.... And it's Metroid. :)

Dude. It's *Metroid*. You don't have to explain any further.

Yeah... Well... It's a vicious cycle.  I recently snagged a Gameboy Player so I can play all the handheld 2-D metroids on a screen that I can.... SEE!
