My events got in, now what?
« on: February 12, 2009, 03:25:34 PM »

First time Dreamation "Event Runner" here - so what's next.
I am already having nightmares about waking up 30 minutes before my session with no materials prepared (at least I live 5 min from the hotel)

Can anyone send a link as to instructions on what to do, do I get some instructions mailed to me about my game location, badge or where to pick it up etc.????

Thanks.

You'll pick up your convention badge at registration just like everyone does.

As for your event, it depends on which department your game is in but in general you check with the person in charge of the room where your event will run in and ask where to set up.

There is also a judge form that needs to be picked up, filled out, and turned in for each event that you run and there are only about a hundred people on site that can help you with that.

There are a lot of staff on site all the time and it's usually not hard to find someone who can answer your questions.

Mark's basically filled you in. Just make sure everyone follows the rules of whatever you're running and - most of all - HAVE FUN.  :D

Worst comes to worst, ask any Senior Staffer for help.  We'll be the one's wearing the "Incredibly bright green" badges.  We'll either help you ourselves, or direct you exactly to who can.

And if you get totally lost and confused the (and I'll probably be sleeping on the sofa for suggesting this  ;D) Registration Staff are easy to find and usually have a good grasp on what's going on.

But as D said senior staff are plentiful, identifiable by the lime green badges, and have radios so we can contact just about anybody you need.

And we're helpful (almost always) and friendly (usually - except Sunday morning before coffee).

Welcome aboard.

Also, are there special pre-reg codes for those running games?

And if we're also volunteering in other areas as well?

Can I get a special "Multitude of Useful" badge?   ;D

Since you are new you wouldn't know that my wife is one of the Reg Deities.  They are usually very busy and suggesting more work for them was the reason for the comment about sleeping on the sofa.

She did remind me that best way to speed your trip through the reg process is to simply give them your full name and have your photo ID out and ready.  They don't need to know anything else.  Just step up, state your name, show them your ID and they will take care of you.  Anything else just slows the process down.

This doesn't apply to you since you are a judge but to any lurkers watching this thread, have your method of payment ready as well.

Since I was around the corner at the Dr's I figured I would register this morning - then go to work. (Sooo nice having it close to home/work)
Turns out, just regsitering to run events doesnt register you to the convention - so a nice lady  ;) got me all signed in and gave me a nice purple name badge.

then I checked where my games (and several others) would be run.

I Looked at the Big Board (I have 1 pre-registrant for Friday 8pm session - yippee - I wont be alone - asuming he shows)
