Meh.

Honestly I'm tired of them trying to make it realistic. If I wanted to play some realistic music, I would just pick up my guitar.

I loved the fact that on the original GH and GH2 it was simple and you could easily differentiate between it being a game and it trying to be a music medium.

I hate the Rock Band and World Tour controllers because they're a bit too realistic. I don't want my strum bar to be silent so it seems like "You'll hear more music, and less controller." I don't want a touch-pad fret section to recreate real guitar sliding. I stick to my Xplorer controller because in my mind it's the quintessential GH/RB controller.

To be honest, I wasn't sold at all on the concept of Rock Band until a few months of being exposed to it. And there's still plenty I don't like about it, but overall it gets an A- in my grade book. I do like the way Harmonix is taking RB2 though, in that they're not releasing Rock Band 3 and will just keep updating the downloads (with the exception of Beatles). They're not over-marketing it and I really respect that. They're keeping the essence of the game what it has been since it was released.

Anyways,

I am disgusted by the reports that Activision/Blizzard is planning 9(yes you read that right) title releases for GH next year.  And to top, that there's even thoughts that they might try for a TV show?  Folks, your product is a cheapass knockoff.  Marketing it to death will not grant it legitimacy.  And gods help you if you oversaturate and kill the market.  Fandom has a long enough memory, and a vicious enough revenge streak, to destroy those who interlope in our affairs.
