Well, another convention has come and gone and let me tell you, Vinny, Avie and myself are seeing stars.

I wanted to take a moment to thank our fantastic Senior Staff for putting on another successful convention. Without them we wouldn’t be able to do this and for that they have our heartfelt thanks. They bust their butts to get this convention off of the ground and really make Double Exposure conventions sing.

To our wonderful volunteers, GMs and security staff, thank you. Without your support and smiling faces again, we wouldn’t be able to make DEXCON fly.

To everyone else, you 100% rock. The enthusiasm, support and sheer geeky-ness we wouldn’t have a reason to be doing this.

Honestly, you all inspire us to do even greater things. I’ve walked out of this convention thinking about what new things we can put together and how to make those ideas happen.

Thank you all so much for making our DEXCON 12 experience an wonderful one!

I would like to thank all those involved for their efforts in making Dexcon XII a memorable event for the better. You're never going to have perfection, but I think overall, things ran okay. Vinny actually remembered who I was (considering all the people he has to work with) and knew I was in the registration database. I didn't register by the deadline, so I didn't think I was. Apparently, volunteering to run all those games put me in.

All my games that were scheduled got played. I also got some "bonus" games in as well. Tri-Bond was at full capacity with five players, Tsuro and Malarky got five people each. Cutthroat Uno, Apples and Jenga were full capacity with eight people each. The Scattergories Card Game got four people, and Wits and Wagers got six and five people out of a maximum seven. Pictureka got four people. Scrabble had a lively competition as we played the "Super Scrabble" game with quadruple scoring and 200 letters. One lady got four "bingos" (using all seven letters) and still couldn't defeat one guy who got three bingos but managed to score on the higher tiles. Close final scores - 544, 536, 395 and 185. Thanks to Ping, Cheryl, Emily and David for playing Scrabble. Thanks to everyone else who played my games, hubby and wife David and Alice (wish I had their e-mail), Bob Sr. and Jr., Fay, Anna, Robert, Bonnie, Brett, Carol, Bruce, Gary, and anyone I left out. Thanks for the kind words about the games and myself. I do appreciate it.

I also partcipated in Family Feud and The $300 Pyramid. I was captain for my FF team. We won our game and Fast Money Round. I was also a finalist in the Pyramid game. I won $30 in vendor's money. Sweet!! Thanks to Bruce and Bulova for making those events enjoyable. If you're free at 6:00 pm, check these events out next time. Deal or No Deal also went off at 8 pm on Saturday, but I was running "Apples" so I couldn't participate in that.

I had to leave early Sunday morning, so I couldn't run Boggle or Yahtzee. I saw Bruce at the Boggle table, so it probably got played. Thanks to Ruth and Eddie for their support, my roommate Matt for booking the room, and to Vinny for accepting some of my game suggestions. Thanks to the Con and Staff Suites staff for making the food and drinks available.

Most of all thanks to the DE staff for making me feel like one of the family. See you all at Dreamation in February.

I'm glad Kate started this thread, because I had been thinking along the same lines.

I know we get bogged down sometimes in the things that don't go the way they should, or the hours that we put in working at the con, but do you take the time to step back and really see the amazing thing that is DEXCON? The news coverage certainly helps.

We make magic happen!

Thank you Vinny for being able to visualize the magic and having the energy to set it all in motion. Thank you, each of you that worked so hard before, during and after the convention. You each contribute a part to make the whole thing work. For those of you who did a lot and are tired and wondering if its worth it, it is. Both for the comradeship of your fellow staffers, and for being a part of this marvelous production. We thank you. If you need a break, try switching to a different job rather than quitting. It gives you a whole new perspective. And thank you to our attendees, who are really terrific people and make it all worth while. I love the post I saw elsewhere, that DEXCON is the gold standard by which they judge other conventions.

One thing I wanted to mention was the food options. The restaurant in the hotel was okay, a little less pricey than the Hilton in East Brunswick, for breakfast and lunch, anyway. Two other options were the pizzeria across the street which gave a 20% discount off to anyone showing their Dexcon badge, and the concession stand set up where registration and the vendors were. If you showed up after 7:30 when they were getting ready to close up, you got a good discount on the burgers and hot dogs.
