Before the con was completely packed down, I talked to Brian about something I had seen in a local arts project.  a manga shot, very well done. just didn't know which show it was from.

I'm 95% certain that it's from "Macross Frontier". I've sent the pic to a bunch of my anime-fan buddies and am awaiting confirmation, but do a Google Images search for said series and see what you think.

Confirmed! It is indeed "Macross Frontier".
