Modern Larps
« on: August 30, 2009, 09:02:27 PM »

I know this sounds like an outrageously stupid question but where can i get things to help for a modern LARP? and i know just go to any store, but i cant seem to find accessories, or useful clothes to help with the look. Like for example I play a Brujah for a Vlarp, but all i have for my costume so far is, - and its just what I've collected over the last couple years for some odd reason- horribly trashed and faded Jeans, awesome t shirt :D,  hoodie, fingerless leather gloves, aviator sunglasses, a flask -for fruit punch people, its a VLARP- and several other oddities. but personally I'm looking for a leather jacket. a Brujah zippo lighter (im thinking of getting the anarch lighter since its basically the Brujah symbol upside down).
and I'm only asking this because i see people with such well put together costume and its becoming a very foolish hobby :O

oh and who here thinks i should get my own category for questions since i ask so much.

It's hard to say, for older style costume ideas, Ren. Faires are really good. Goth shops in the mall are usually good for stuff for Vampire LARPS. If you have a costume shop near you, those are Priceless. I like Army/Navy stores for some stuff. Some comic and Gaming stores have symbols from the Gaming LARPS, or just look at the dealers at conventions. Other things, just keep a look at whenever you are at flea markets and stuff.

Have you considered thrift stores?  Some of them have an unbelievable selection of items, especially if you are near a large city.

For the Zippo find a basic plain one and get some metal paint paint and paint the symbol on it... For a Leather jacket depending on what style check Hog shops for a biker jacket but if your more punk check ebay or get a denim jacket tear it up a bit and put studs in it and patchs

Salvation Army etc. I have gone in with a $10 bill and come out with enough clothing for a weekend larp for a modern vampire/goth chick.

Hot topic as well.

And peripheral to the issue, if anyone is looking for a men's size LG, lightweight, forest-cammo jacket, have them contact Mark.  He's clearing out his closet.   ;D
