It's at the peak of tax season and I work at a CPA firm. I'd like to go but I don't know if I can get the weekend off.

I am dying to go! I've always wanted to go to PAX, but cross-country travel is just not in the monetary cards for me. Boston, though, I could definitely swing. Maybe we could go in on a room/carpool?

A fellow GM tells me that PAX East has nearly 20,000 attendees and they may cap the attendance at that. So if you're planning on going to this, act fast.

They still haven't given the official cap yet, but posted the other day on the main site, they *WILL* run out of tickets.

The same people that manage the NY Comic Con are the same people for Pax.

They won't give out badges at the door if they run out of tickets, so that means no walk-ins, reservations required. 30,000 attendees - holy moly.

So how did this Boston extravaganza go? Any reports or highlights from anyone who was there?

It was awesome, however I'm not entirely sure it would be worth it for you. PAX is still heavily slanted towards electronic gaming, but despite that tilt, the tabletop area was pretty big and had a lot of traffic. Nothing like watching several thousand people going by singing Bohemian Rhapsody on the way to the Sat night concerts.....

Wil Wheaton was also pretty awesome, and a must for me for next year, but again, if you are focused specifically on tabletop, you probably wouldn't have as much fun. One of my highlights was teaching Memoir 44 to a father and son who were thrilled to find a bond between the dad (who played wargames growing up) and his son (who mostly played on his NDS but who really enjoyed Advance Wars) with a light, fast miniatures based game that they both liked.
