I also am a member of Lightfoot, though I joined it mostly out of loyalty to my friend. You have to choose one for yourself. There are several suitable houses, and a few where they will stab you in the back as quick as look at you. Who your housemates are will help to determine in some ways how happy you will be here.

“In ‘my’ case” She shakes her head a little, “You sound as if I have already made up my mind to be here.”

She looks to Mack “Does one Have to have a ‘house’ to exist here? Being with a bunch of smugglers is not really something I enjoy, the Valeka crew being the exception of course.”

"You asked how to become 'alive,' not how to continue existing. You do not need to choose a House, ever, if that is your choice. And there is more to House Lightfoot than being smugglers, and there are more Houses in the Nexus than just Lightfoot."

"So, Uncle Hyran, what House would you suggest that I might fit in with?"

Hyran does not pause to consider the matter, indicating he has thought about this before. "I believe you would fit best into Citadel. The Seekers, forever searching for the answers to their questions, especially the questions they won't ask out loud. Galahad, the House of Protectors would be a choice you would think of taking, but I don't think you would be happy there in the end."

Amanda crosses her arms “You always have the answers don’t you Hyran” and then pauses in thought before speaking again “Citadel? What else do you know about them?”

"I would never try to make any decision for you, however, if you wish to make an impact on the world around you, you have to have a house. Not choosing a house would be the 'safe' way because that way you can not be harmed, however the 'safe' way is boring in my opinion."

Hyran looks slightly to the left of Amanda. "Only when I have sufficient time to consider the question."

He shrugs slightly, still not looking directly at her. "House Citadel is the home of the most devoted of martial artists, for some reason. Most of their members seem to have their own personal crusade, but none of them seem to have the same agendas or targets."

"That's not much to base a life changing decision on."

How does your soul measure up?

The silence is broken by a figure approaching, carrying a bundle in its arms. The figure itself is dressed entirely in black: Black robes, black gloves, black hood, black slippers... all except for the porcelain-like mask that it wears where its face would be. It does not say a single word as it walks in the general direction of the three of them. The bundle it carries, as it nears, becomes apparent. It is no bundle, but a fox, easily two and a half to three full feet in length, from snout to haunch, with two tails wagging where a conventional fox would have only one. Its fur is bleach white, like bones left to bleach in the sunlight for too long, or the color of a virgin burial shroud. When the sunlight touches her fur, it changes from the ivory white to the conventional reddish brown of what a standard earth fox would be expected to wear. While her servant is silent, she is far from.

"If you've managed to lose your way, again..." the threat of fangs is enough to send a shiver down her servant's spine, if indeed it has one. With a gesture of its blank face, the fox turns her attention to the three, her amber eyes shining even in the absence of light. "Well well, perhaps you're not entirely useless after all." She mutters out of a corner of her maw, before making a gesture that a human would make to move hair from their face. "Apologies. While as useful as a club foot, there is still usefulness there. I trust I haven't wandered into something... private."

She didn't sound like she was asking.

The woman of the group, who is incorporeal with a slight glow about her, turns slightly to the newcomers. She blinks once at the fox, taking in all the details of the pair.

“Just a family reunion” she replies politely

Mack places his hand on the hilt of his lightsaber as the figure is still approaching but makes no move to draw it. "I have noticed that no matter how secluded a spot, when someone is trying to decide on a house or not whether to join a house people seem to converge. It is one thing about the Nexus I have never understood."

She turns to Mack, and if a vixen could smirk, she would be. "A decision made leads to regrets. Second guessings as to if the choice made was the proper one. All those doubts, all that grief, all those regrets..." the twin-tailed fox states, almost matter-of-factly. "And I *am* a Shepard of Regret, after all." another statement of fact, with a flavoring of pride to it. Her amber glance slides off of Mack and to the female. "And now that I am here, these little strifes and regrets will have a save haven. I will keep them here, in the hollow behind my heart." a pause, as she adjusts herself to be either more comfortable, more regal, or perhaps both.

"Know that I am Tsuki, messenger of Yami. In him your regret will find a lasting home, for he listens to the scorn and regrets of mankind's hearts." a pause, "That is, once I find the means to deliver them."

Hyran nods a greeting to Tsuki. "We were discussing Houses. Perhaps you would care to venture an opinion regarding your own?"

"Helvetia, a clan of mediators, in theory meant to be impartial, previously led by an ego-maniacal madman of a mobile tree." she states, "Fortunately I came along when I did, sorting out a few issues within the clan as it were, to ensure that someone more interested in mediation lead the clan, as opposed to... well, let it stand that better heads command the clan, and it was due to proper mediation." She sits up, looking proud of herself.

"Would you believe he actually wanted to resort to ritual combat to determine leadership?" she asked, incredulously, then returned to a more relaxed posture, "I'm personally very pleased with the progress that's been made within. Down." she paused, the very heartbeat of the universe hanging in the air.

"*ahem* I said... down." and the ghostly figure holding her snapped back to the moment, and carefully set the large vixen down on the ground. As she left his side, he faded from importance, turning more translucent, looking almost like a patch of smoke that bends against the wind, then a faceless figure of the shadow of a man.

As for Tsuki, she padded around a few steps, then gave a grand stretch before finding a nearby rock to sit upon, "I'm drawn to strife, you see. The start of an argument is a lullaby to my ears."
