Hello All! My name is Michael, and I am the head guy for Dystopia Rising. Dystopia Rising is a zombie survival horror LARP in a post apocalypse setting that will be running at least one event at Dreamation. Rules for Dystopia Rising can be found at http://www.DystopiaRisingLARP.com . We will be allowing both character creation as well as providing pre-generated characters for walk ins. Since it has been asked a few times, yes, we allow both packet delivery as well as single shot NERF firearms.

YHA... oh, wait. Brains..... As for single-shot.... Dammit, Mike, I've got a Vulcan on my wish list for the holidays! The Vulcan is fun, but jams to easily and fires too short. However, it is still worth getting just to set up at the foot of someones bed when they are asleep so that you can hit them with a barrage of nerf shots. Not that this has happened... within the past week.

Well i believe the newest nerf gun will come in handy. It looks like a shotgun but has a 30 clip cartridge, excellent for multi-kills with a easy loading "tommy gun" clip a little bulky but nice. The gun is also apart of the n-strike so its interchangeable, currently i have the basic clip on it so my combined gun holds the bigger clip. Looks crazy fun. If i make it i wouldn't mind taking some zombies out.

Two months.
For two months the caravan has continued to push Northward looking to find a rumored bastion of humanity... a town that has electricity, running water, and has a society not built on slavery or cannibalism. A light in the darkness, or if nothing else, a star on the horizon to aim for. The caravan set out from the remains of Bausville a few months back well over a hundred people leaving an area that could no longer support them. Now, with months of travel, the numbers have changed and fluctuated. Starvation, illness, desertion, slavers, and the ever present zombie hoard has cut the numbers down to a trickle. Other refugees, lost without direction, have joined the caravan... sweet words of food and water like honey for horseflies.
The maps that were drawn have brought this caravan here, to a place called 'Beacon Falls'. Lacking directions and not knowing which direction to head out to, the group begins to loose moral... until a single light stands out in the darkness. Flashes, bright flashes, occasionally come from a building deep in the Beacon Falls. As the heavy radiated snows begin to fall, and a need for shelter takes precedent, the caravan pushes forward to find shelter and the source of this light inside the abandoned 'ewport Hotel'.
The rumored township must be close. The storm is driving hard, and supplies are depleted. The sound of the restless dead echoes through the area. If only to survive another night.
Night Two:
Saturday night and The Light of Hedon is holding 'prayers' at the Double-Tap Bar. Dee Jay, the broadcast aficionado, has helped the Light of Hedon grow strong in the township. In an attempt to gather the faithful (and perhaps convert others) the other town religious leaders are holding religious sermons while the Light of Hedon holds loud celebrations in the main hall. Rumors of travelers abound for those with an ear to the crowd, and talk of missing cargo shipments support fears of raider patrols.
The previous season left the guard and the town itself in all but ruins, and now the township needs to begin to rebuild... or else fall to the undead hoard.

As we are now closer to Dreamation, I wanted to get everyone some details in regard to Dystopia Rising.
1) If you go to DystopiaRisingLARP.com and register, a free download of the Dystopia Rising rule book link appears in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Feel free to download the rulebook in PDF format for free. Understand that this rulebook is our web version, and does not have all the bells and whistles that the printed version has. In hopes of making download quick, and save bandwith, we had to shave things down a bit.
2) Not only can you make your own character, but we have pre-generated over 120 different character builds across all of the nationalities. These sheets not only have your mechanical build, but also have a very brief backgrounds to get you directly into game.
3) We encourage people to bring your hand crank flash lights, single shot foam guns, and boffer weapons. We will have some others available to find in character as well.
4) Dystopia Rising has no additional fees to play. Vinny has told us we will have massive amounts of space at midnight, and we intend on using every square foot of it. As a warning this game could use bright flashing lights, loud noises, and situations that may not be appropriate for persons with either heart conditions or history of epilepsy. In addition we have found that persons with fear of zombies, the dead, dolls, the dark, and clowns may have issues as well. Please keep these things in mind.

I wanted to thank everyone that made Dystopia Rising such a fantastic event. Everyone who came down to play, the con staff who helped us out immensely, and Vinny* for all the help that we received to get things running.
If all things go well, we will see you at Dexcon!
(modified because Vinnie makes my teeth ache. --Avie)

I've never seen a group come into the convention with such a rush of goodwill, energy and enthusiasm. Nor have I ever seen a group greeted with such ... violent enthusiasm as Dystopia Rising.
You guys were wonderful to work with, fantastic to watch and I can't wait to see what you bid for DEXCON.
