Dystopia Rising and the Zombie Apocalypse Come to DexCon!

Two generations after the fall of man.  Two generations of radiation, zombies, and a world filled with scavengers picking at the bones of the remains of society.  Two generations of fitting together as gangs for survival, killing as needed, and doing what it takes to survive.  Two generations of picking up the pieces.


This July you have the opportunity to try and survive in the zombie apocalypse.  Members in one of the traveling caravans, you are following a faded radio signal in hopes of finding something of value at the other end.  Shelter... food... or maybe even civilization.

As of right now Dystopia Rising will be running only 1 event at Dexcon, putting all of our efforts into one INCREDIBLE scenario.  At Dreamation we had an open door and ran two massive events.  This event we will have to cap our PC base to the first 100 players, and have space for an additional 30 for NPCing.  This event will be a part of the on going Dystopia Rising: New Haven chronicle.  The rulebook can be found by going to DystopiaRisingLARP.Com and registering to download the rulebook for free.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Greetings Zed Heads!

With the finalized timetable it looks like Dystopia will be running late Saturday until the wee hours of the morning!
Now that the convention is less than a week away, here is the detailed in character event details for Dystopia Rising : The End Is Nigh.

Signals have been on a loop for a long time now, wind up hand radios have heard static broadcasts... however the signal is loud and clear now. 


"Millstone Nuclear Power Plant has entered safety lock down mode.  External power sources lost.  Internal locking units have been put in place to ensure employee security. External power routing has been cut off and power output has been internalized to .015 % of total potential.  Lock down protocol has been put into effect.  Areas two and four have taken extensive damage.  Core lock down compromised.  On staff employees are to report to special projects technology lab 4 for safety measures.   Loop 9212327.   Error in exterior venting tanks, tanks fatal malfunction.  Error in internal systems, security override enacted."

Caravans have been traveling into the area with hopes of scavenging lost technology, finding means to control this power source that has run for over eighty years, and with hopes of finding clues to what truly caused the fall.  A locked time capsule filled with promises of riches, technology, and knowledge awaits those that are willing to risk the irradiated wastelands and survive the zombie hoards.  This event will be a 'cut and run' event where your character may choose to be done with the scenario by surviving and walking out the doors.  What rewards you take will carry over with you to the main Dystopia Rising event, and some rewards even cross over to other games at the con! 

This event is a contact boffer larp that allows single shot foam dart weapons as well.

I want to thank all of you that supported us this past Dexcon, from the staff at the convention through the players that came out to try us out.  After building a nuclear reactor, a cryogenic chamber, and making once of the ballrooms into a believable ruined nuclear power plant... we are taking a solid two days off to ourselves before starting to work on our proposals for Dreamation (thinking about running two shorter events instead of just the one long one). 

Thank you all so very much, and a special thanks to all of the Cthulhu players who applauded our zombies on the way in.  Made many of our nights.

i had a blast participating this was my first time trying Dystopia and i plan on bringing my nerf aresenal for use at the Dystopia events at dreamation as well as an outfit. i know use of the Vulcan is not permitted but will it be at some point?, and it does have a very big draw back, reloading.

The Vulcan IS permitted.  But you have to cock it every time.  I used mine at dreamation. 

Also I wanted to thank the Dystopia Rising peeps for running an awesome game.  I came in a little late in the game so my dose of dystopia was extra chaotic.  Also!  Props for not upsetting hotel security and making me yell 'be quiet' again!  So a big all round thanks.  I will definitely be there next con if I cant schlep all the way up to Connecticut for it.

Chances are good Kate and I are attending the August event.  If you want to pop up to us and carpool, that might be possible.  If you don't mind a goat in your lap, it's infinitely MORE possible.
