DOBA!

Zero nods at Crafty.  "Excellent data collection."

She turns back to the newcomer.

"You will find your planet -- also known as Terra -- is possibly the most common single world represented here, although there are many different versions of it, apparently.  I was engaged in some research there myself when I came here, at a scientific conference, although not this one."  She taps her shirt.

"I believe you will enjoy this place, at least in the beginning.  If you have an interest, you may wish to examine House Renaissance.  We are largely comprised of scientists and builders of technological items, and are a small house, which generally interferes little in its members's affairs.  You would be free to perform whatever research you liked.  I should note, however, that I no longer speak for the House, although I do not expect any change in that policy.  You should definitely examine the other Houses as well.  I recommend contacting members of each, if possible.  Crafty can give you explanations of all of them, but I doubt they would completely coincide with the descriptions of the House members themselves."

"Bah," Jasper says, confidently, "the Terran worlds ah borin', it's just minor differences in atomic scale and subtle forces and whatnot.  Magic, now THAT'S the place to be," he adds, tapping his wizard's hat.  "I'm performin' a totally un-systematic ovahview of the laws of magic in different universes.  Some'a the math is really unique!"

"Anyway, what're these Houses you keep going on about?  Are they guilds, or castles, or just political groups, or what?"

*A voice pips up from the corner where a second ago there was no one there.  You see perched on a rock a figure wearing a black long coat with a dress shirt and tie, tan slacks and sunglasses.*  "All 3 good sir.  But think of them more as a group of avatars with mostly the same views in common." *You then see the man stand and jump of his perch and walk over you see slung over his shoulder a AK-47 and a few pistol-type weapons on his side.* "Zero, Crafty" *The man nods to each one.*

"DOBA, Shamus."

Zero turns back to the newbie.

"Sudden appearances and disappearances are fairly common, but if you are a student of Magic, I suspect you are accustomed to such things.  I have relatively little data in that area, but I would be pleased to examine your mathematical analysis.  In exchange, I can perhaps share some of the my studies -- Nexal Quantum, for example."

"Right.  Uh, Howdy," he adds, at Shamus.  Jasper thinks for a moment, then frowns at the guns he sees on Shamus' back.  "But... magic does exist here, don't it?  I mean, it's not all guns and science, is it?

Crafty chirps helpfully.
~lots of people use magic here but not everybody and some people call it different things too but Da Weasel says that any sufficient advanced magic is indistuishable from science and vice versa so what we consider magic you may consider science if that is the case you will need to see everything for yourself some people call my cookies magic but I just know they are good do they have cookies where you come from if they do do you happen to remember any of the recipes I collect recipes you know~

"DOBA Zero." *Shamus walks a little closer* "Please don't confuse the man crafty. He hasn't even fully formed yet." *He then looks to the new comer*  "Yes magic exists here." *Shamus pulls a small ring from his finger and holds it up.  If your any type of mage with basic understanding you would recognize it as magic. He then puts it back on his finger.*  "Also other things such as advanced technology to some and even farther then your mind could ever imagine. Welcome to a hellish paridise we refer to as the nexus.  The names Shamus Mackintosh of House Lightfoot."

"Howdy, Shamus.  Good to meetcha.  So what's this about Houses, exactly?  Do I have to pick one?  And how does one join?"

"Well Jasper is it?" Doesn't matter, we can do this 1 of 2 ways." *Shamus pulls out a pad and looks at it...::Confused look:: ::sigh:: "I thought we fixed that guess not. Anyway 1 of 2 ways. The easy way where I give ya a quick run down of where ya at, a quick explanation of the houses and you just simply will it and it will be done.  OOORRR we can do it the long drawn out way where we go over the houses in detail to my opinion and  i'm sure Crafty and Zero will input there own logical and illogical views on each one.  Then we go try and find members of that house and have them give you there political stand points on there house and a reason why you should join them.  You don't need to pick one if ya don't want to but if ya don't you will stay in the state you are for eternity and well beyond.  Think of it like limbo for the ones stuck in limbo. At least thats how i see it right now."

Zero looks at the wizard curiously. "Eternity: infinite  time;  duration  without  beginning  or  end.   Is  that term unfamiliar to you?"

"Ok lets start with where your at.  You are in the nexus, the middle point to everywhere in the multiverse.  In a example of how that works i come from one universe where earth exist but no magic, stories of it but none what so ever.  The looks of you and what i overheard you are from a universe that has a earth and magic.  Some universes have a earth but its named something diffrent or don't even have one altogether."

Jasper seems still to be confused by Zero's explanation of eternity, but doesn't actually ask anything.

Turning to Shamus, he says "Actually, mah Earth has no magic.  Ah've been universe explorin' for a few years nah - and discoverin' the laws of Magic.  But go on."

"Ok well being that your saying your a explorer of magic that falls inline with a few houses two in fact at least in my opinion.  Avalon ran by i believe King Trunks, and Godot ran by Stran.  Avalon is the house of magic and exploration they specialize in anything magic, and Godot are the drinkers they enjoy the juice and everything that goes along with it the power and the fun. I can think of a few other houses but i barely know ya so at first glance and opinion those are the two to seek out first.  But don't let the , make your decision its the people in it that count.  Technically my house are seen as evil people and thieves well there half right, yes my house powers gives me better abilities to pull the boxers out of your shorts and you not even know. But we are also look out for each other. Mess with one mess with all, to me some houses don't follow that guideline."
