The following are effects that are ongoing across the Nexus.  This applies to every Avatar in every House.

Orbs:
•   If this item is looted or pickpocketed, it will return to its previous owner after a period of 30 minutes.
•   If an Avatar is carrying an Orb that does NOT match their House, They suffer a full skill tier decrease if level 5 or less (and a two-tier decrease if level 6 or higher)
•   If an Avatar is carrying their own House’s orb, they are granted a full skill tier increase if level 5 or less (and a half-tier increase if level 6 or higher)
•   Every Dreamation, the House Orb is returned to the new Councilor to distribute as they see fit.
•   If an Avatar is carrying an orb for ANY House, the effect is obvious and clearly displayed in their signature.  (See below for special notes for Fleming.)  This is represented by a pale purple button.  If you need one, they will be available in the Con Suite at the next con.
•   Fleming Only: The Fleming Orb can only be seen by a Fleming employing the skill Sleuthing.  Fleming does NOT wear the purple button representing that they are carrying the orb.  However, Flemings are unable to employ the orb of their cover house.  Note that the orbs do not affect - or fail to affect - Fleming in any way which would out them.

Plot Effects:
•   Toon, Technology, and Gothic powers do not work.  Attempting to use any of these powers results in no effect at all, as if the powers do not exist.
•   Technology Item Form Creation is currently not working, because the skill requires a technology source to power any item created with it.

Territories:
•   No known effects on Territories

Domains:
•   No known effects on Domains

Will there be new item cards to reflect these changes, or should we just carry a little copy of this post?

I think that carrying little copies of the post is a moderately over-snarky solution, but ultimately, feel free to do whatever greases your chicken.

Would you be so kind as to PM us the text on the front of the card, and we'll make sure we're consistent?

Clearly when Andy was picking my brain earlier I missed some previous notes on "the state of things".  We'll adjust as soon as we get the text from somebody holding a current card.

I wasn't trying to be snarky, I promise! I honestly thought it was a good solution if there weren't going to be new cards >.>

Here's the card text for the Galahad orb:
"A pale blue sphere of energy that orbits around the user.
---
Any Galahad in possession of this item is granted a full skill tier increase if level 5 or less (and a half-tier increase if level 6 or higher)
---
Any Non-Galahad in possession of this item suffers a full skill tier decrease if level 5 or less (and a two-tier decrease if level 6 or higher)
---
If this item is looted or pickpocketed, it will return to its previous owner after a period of 30 minutes."

Thanks for posting.  and clarifying. :-)

Folks, all the cards are similar to what Cass posted - I'd forgotten that Alf actually did get item cards made.  The orb color is the main difference between orbs.

•   Every Dreamation, the House Orb is returned to the new Councilor to distribute as they see fit.
May I suggest that every Dreamation, new cards be printed refelcting the changes to the Orbs that have been emplaced since the last issuance? Make sure that the new item cards have the year clearly written on it somewhere, and a note that it will no longer exist after the beginning of the next year's Dreamation. These cards can be given to the newly elected/relected Councilors.

The pale purple buttons are awfully close to pink. To the casual observer, it can look as though a newbie has just selected a house but forgot to remove his old pink button. May I suggest printing the word ORB on the orb button?

Bill, the idea for the orb item cards is an excellent suggestion.  Would you mind talking to Alf about getting them printed up?

I don't know about anyone else's, but the one I was handed has a star graphic in black on it (I think these were the buttons used for the House flag thing a while back?).

Maybe have the word ORB and the Year on the buttons. This will help should they get "lost" sometime during the year. Like, if the orb holder stops coming to the game...

I am in the process of making the 2011 House Orb cards.

1. What is the exact ruling on House Councilors in regard to the Orbs? I know there is a reason that Councilors are not currently using them (at least in my House), but I would like a GM's wording on it for the cards. (I would also like to make sure that there are no detrimental effects, no matter how temporary, if these are to be presented to the House Councilors each Dreamation.)

2. What Ready Pouch Slot do these Orbs occupy?

3. I am sure I will think of another question to ask, sometime at the point it is too late to make any changes to the cards I have already prepared... If these are suggestions, voice them now?
