Okay folks, this was the last day to submit an event, and since the highest result is Thursday at Midnight, that's the time.

Additionally, we are still working on scheduling the Council Meeting in a timeslot when people can show up.

We're working on it, Mike.
Scheduling is really tight, between the Weird West and the Zombie Apocalypse and....

DEXCON's going to have folks hopping all week, so we're trying to find the most not-hopping time (hah) to put the council meeting.

Midday Thursday does not compete with anything.

Does that idea make anybody abjectly miserable?

We'd been seriously considering Midnight Thursday, but that competes directly with the new Buffy LARP, and I'm trying really hard to keep from cannibalizing other groups.

OK i just wanna say sorry if this comes out wrong but...Who really wants to play the buffy LARP?  No offense to it let me refrase Who in the AVATAR system wants to play it?  I look at it as if there is like 5-6 people that want to then yeah thats a problem.  But if only 1 person wants to try it out then let them go run off and have fun why the others save Carlos and restore the nexus.

Joe, I'm not even dignifying your comment with a response.  Seriously.

Mike, I'm super sorry, but I'm not sure how to juggle everything so we aren't conflicting with other games.   I'm trying to find times that work for the largest percentage of folks with the lowest amount of angst.

Actually, I lied.  I am going to comment.  And you're right, it came off incredibly badly, and discounted all the incredible amounts of work happening in my world right now to perfectly balance the convention for the best experience for the most attendees, AND the best outcome for the Avatar System.

It's not just about a single Buffy game.  It's about making our game approachable for new players.  It's about balancing the Avatar System within the scope of the entire rest of the 975 or so event convention.  It's about a plotline I'm busting my butt to get pulled together, involving all the LARPs, the Board Gaming Room, Outdoor Sports, Indie Game Explosion, table top RPGs - there isn't a corner of the convention, really, that hasn't signed up to participate in Project: MOGWIP.

It's about supporting new GMs who are stepping into the DE pool for the first time.  It's about long-sightedness, rather than short-sighted hyperfocus.  To you, it's "just a buffy game".  For those GMs, not competing with the Avatar System might make the difference between a successful first run at a DE con, or scouring the halls for players to fill key roles.  No guarantees, of course, but why stack the deck against them when I can stack it for them?

I'm truly sorry that key folks will not be available for the sessions that are available to us.  At DREAMATION, where the Avatar System is designed to be a focus, we'll schedule so the other LARPs aren't scheduled against us.  At DEXCON, that's simply not possible.

I understand that people are going to be disappointed, and I've agonized over this decision.

Mike, if you want, we can call you by phone so you can be "present" from the safety of your domain - that's about the best I have to offer right now.

L0003: The Avatar System; "What Do We Do NOW?". Turn Tech back on! Retrieve Gothic! Revive Toon! es, folks, for those of you just tuning in, the Avatars managed to turn off over half of the powers in the system at the recent Track 42 event. Join them as they work to reclaim the Gypsy who hopped into the fray in an attempt to "fix things", and get their home back in working order. This quest will run according to Scooby Doo style storyboarding. If you are in the room when we return from a commercial break, you'll be written into the story. Thursday, 2:00PM - 6:00PM; One Round; All Materials Provided. Beginners Welcome; Fun, All Ages.

L0009: The 2010 Nexus Midterm Council Meeting. Join the Nexus Council as they consider the tasks facing them in the second half of 2010. Unfortunately, all weapons must be left outside the room. If you are an Avatar, you will want to see what the council does - if you are NOT an Avatar, this will give you some great insight into how the Avatar System works! Friday, 11:00AM - 2:00PM; One Round; All Materials Provided. Beginners Welcome; Fun, All Ages.

Avie, I really appreciate the offer but calling me will not be necessary.  The Nexus always got along without Bron and it will continue to do so for a one day absence.  I should be there in time for the Council meeting though.
