Lugosicon 2010 - October 22 - 24
« on: September 15, 2010, 03:26:36 PM »

Folks,

We're definitely at the Marriott Hanover in Whippany, NJ (same hotel as last weekend.) We currently do NOT conflict with any of the campaigns any of us play in when we aren't being Avatars.  (the serfs rejoice)

$35 with a $5 discount per new player you bring in, up to 5 new players.

$20 rate for brand new players, Dystopia Rising players who are level 4 or lower and folks who are willing to spend at least four hours manning NPC monsters (MUST be pre-registered with Avie for the NPC offer. CANNOT show up onsite and expect to get the NPC Slave Wages Rate!).  (first ten to register, and you have to have at least a working knowledge of the combat rules, please.)

This is a costumed event - the theme is "Come as your MOST FAVORITE Journey Host."  Yes, it's an IC theme.  Yes, there will be an IC announcement.

There will be at least two prizes - best non-humanoid and creepiest likeness.

Lugosicon WILL BE a high-risk, high-reward event.  Avatars WILL die. Avatars WILL suffer. Avatars WILL cry for their mommies.... ok, maybe not that bad. But there will be risk.  and the rewards will be equivalent to the risk.

If you haven't filed a character description with the GMs, get on it, folks.  We need to know your strengths and weaknesses, your theme songs and your favorite colors, to properly abus.. um.. amuse you.

I seem to not be the only one confused by the phrase "Favorite Journey Host".  Could you 'splain in OOC Speak?  (I kinda get the "favorite" part, actually, but ...)

I think it means the favorite character you have journeyed into. But I could be wrong, as some people are fond of pointing out...

I didn't know what it meant either.

Has the phrase "Journey Host" really fallen out of usage?

A Host is the Person you journey into when you go on a Journey.

So, your favorite historical, movie, book, tabletop, larp character that isn't your avatar, seeing as Avatars can Journey into any work of fiction, or any time in history.

Yeah, I don't think the phrase is used much any more.  Besides which, neither of me have "journeyed into" a host very often.  I would never have considered a journey host someone I *might* theoretically journey into.  So -- glad I asked!  ;D

back when, a lot of us considered any RPG we played in a Journey.  ... interesting as a GM to see that the norm might have shifted.
