Energy flows and amplifies through the Pinnacle sphere suspended over Steed Labs. The massive computer/antenna projects waves across the entire communications band of the Nexus - everything from tube radios to tri-axial subspace; a message is sent over all non-encrypted channels, and can be heard by all Avatars. The Federation computer voice announces: "This is a priority communication from Nuova One to all stations receiving."

"Greetings, Avatars," Dr. Steed begins. "With the approaching Great Gathering, I wanted to take this opportunity to speak to you of a subject vital to us all.

"There is an Avatar whom most of us already know. His work in Nexusology and the applied sciences, his charitable donation to the populace of the Unified Circuit and ongoing assistance in the upkeep and improvement of the Grand Central Terminal system, his statesmanship in fostering cooperation between the Houses and his willingness to risk his own safety and power for the good of others have proven him many times over a worthy candidate for your consideration.

"I endorse Premier Yuri of House Octagon as the next Chairman of the Nexus Council. I encourage every Avatar to, through your own Houses' methods and procedures, make it known to your Council Representative that you agree with this endorsement and support the election of a true and trustworthy leader. I have met with the Premier on many occasions and I have full faith that, once installed, you will consider his many initiatives and programs as favorably as do I. I also wish to assure you that my Delphic abilities render me highly resistant to mental tampering; I swear upon the Voice of the Nexus that I make this endorsement of my own free will." A small ripple of an Oath can be felt by those sensitive to such things (OOC: Steed is, in fact, not mind-woogied.)

"The choice is yours; it falls to each Avatar to see to it that their Representatives truly represent your own needs and interests, for they represent each and every one of you. Use your power.

"Thank you for your attention. We now return you to your regularly-scheduled comms activity."

Another broadcast comes over the Nexus common circuits. (OOC: Once again, Steed is not mind-woogied.)

"Greetings again, fellow Avatars. This is Commodore John Steed with a message to the population of the Nexus. The civilization of the Nuova System, and the crew of the USS Alexandria under her new commanding officer Captain Eriska Steed, extend to Yuri our most sincere congratulations on a landslide victory in the Council Chair election. We also extend our gratitude to the population of the Nexus for its wisdom in seeing in Yuri the same potential for progress and reform as have I and Captain Steed.

"As some may remember, I once prevented the Nexus from complete dissolution by assembling an ad-hoc Council in order to reach quorum and stabilize our collective metaframe. The situation that caused this extreme measure was in part my own fault, as is recorded in the annals of Nexal history. Not long after, I was elected Chairman of the Nexus Council. I subsequently abdicated that position, as I did not believe that I could fulfill my primary function as a Guardian of the Multiverse while also serving faithfully on the Council.

"I, as the only Council Chairman in Nexal history to ever resign the position on a matter of duty and honor, encourage each and every one of you - the Avatars of the Nexus - to give heed and fair hearing to each of Yuri's programs for a better Nexus. Attend Council meetings; not just the Representatives, but each and every Avatar - granted you may not speak on behalf of your House, but it is your right to attend. To observe. To decide for yourselves. And if you are prevented from doing so, then I implore you to speak to your Representatives; hold House meetings, discuss amongst yourselves the potential for a better Nexus for us all. Insist that your Representatives bring your ideas to the Council through whatever mechanisms your House provides; that is the channel through which your voice will be heard. I - on my honor as the last surviving Founder of Delphi - guarantee that the Council as administered by Chairman Yuri will give you a fair and just hearing.

"Again, thank you for your attention. Standard comms traffic will resume now."

And it does.
