He stows his tricorder and double-taps his icon; his clothing changes into a suit of black powered armor. "Meat-shield before tactical weaponry," Steed replies. "The Kinetic Armor System can soak a lot of damage. But a little preliminary recon would seem to be called for."

He peers into the passageway without entering. "Andromache," he calls out, projecting his voice. "You in there?"

Uh... important feature of Venice - everything form-shifts to be period appropriate.  always has. I missed that in the initial posts.

It all still ::functions::, but the city protects her residents from accidently stumbling upon time traveling, technology using, anachronistic mages, warriors and others.

OOC: Noted. In that case, the Kinetic Armor manifests as a black suit of masterwork plate armor.

[OOC- Understood. I will just deal with the indignity of having adorable spectacles perched on the bridge on Zane's nose. Fortunatly The rest of the outfit should work. I was just haveing difficulty with the working translation for what hey are and what they do.]

Steed looks back at Zane. "Another memo," he remarks. "I don't like it, but we've got our orders." He kills time checking his equipment - a tricorder now resembling a small mechanical calculator, his sidearm a blunderbuss, a set of pattern enhancers now looking like simple magnifying lenses, and so on.

"I suddenly have a lot more sympathy for Ash having to run the Harmonics system with pocket calculators..." he remarks dryly.

Two voices can be heard down the passageway but the words are not entirely clear. There is an obvious glow coming from the room beyond the wall with a clear photonic signature.

A proto-grin flashes across Zane's face at Doctor Steed's remark but it's gone before Steed can see it. "Well, as long as we have some time..." Zane says as he sets down the satchel and pulls out a short scarf, which he then wraps around his nose and mouth; tucking the ends into his collar. He then reaches underneath the half cloak and loosens a leather tie, releasing a weight into his mostly obscured left hand. Turning his left hand, he brings out of the cloak an exquisitely crafted crossbow; which he quickly, but thoroughly examines before returning it to its hidden home. "La voglia di vincere non è importante quasi quanto la volontà di prepararsi a vincere" Zane states to no one in particular.

Steed's head snaps up, then turns to Zane. "You heard the lady. Let's do this." With that, he takes off through the passageway.

Zane sighs, and follows closely behind. Weapons still apparently sheathed.

Steed pauses for a moment part-way down the passage, placing a hand against a wall. "Wow," he says to Zane. "If there were a such thing as a magical Geiger counter, we'd be pinning the meter right now. It's coming from the room ahead, in which we'll presumably find Andromache. Simply massive magical energy source. Old... very old... but familiar. Washing in all directions; like a lighthouse. Or a distress beacon." He tips his head slightly, as if listening to something or scenting the air. "Autumn," he says definitively, "and I think we're safe here, so long as we tread lightly." He continues down the path, motioning for Zane to follow. "Hm," he mutters. "Magical Geiger counter. That might actually be do-able..."

As Steed examines the atmosphere of the surroundings, Zane does the same for the more mundane aspects of the surroundings. He notes the architecture, the materials, tripwires, etc. making sure to take note of the switch to open and close the passageway from this side. "Hmm, ok." Zane answers to the Doctor's commentary, almost as if he didn't hear Steed. Which those who spent more time around him would know to mean that he is paying attention but part of his focus is on something else. In this case less to his fellow Delphi, and more to the surroundings and what may lay ahead.
