Spring Gathering Highlights
« on: April 17, 2011, 08:14:40 PM »

Hey everyone, hope everyone had a safe and sane trip home.  This weekend was a ton of fun and i wanted to start this thread and hear everyone's hightlights.

-Sebastian explaining the Houses to Traff
-Traff and Sigma doing the obstacle course, with sigma just tanking the Toxic Storms
-Making and playing Skelly with everyone
-Helping translate some of the cyphers
-Winning the Marksmanship contest as the newest Ares
-All of Saturday night's crazy improve, but especially Valaria and Azure, and Jon Stone and Andromachi.

" 'And in that House there's a card called the Mercenary, and another - done by a different hand - that I think is named something like Guardians of the Dead, and it shows ghostly soldiers standing in the middle of a burning bridge...'
A moment of silence, then Gesler: 'Recognize any faces, Fid?' "

-Addictive Dish Soap.  This will become a product in the Bazaar, I assure you.
-38 seconds.
-All the new Progenitor canon.  MOAR!
-4 player You Don't Know Jack.  There was just something satisfying about playing it.
-Getting to pull Sibyll out into the public.  I promise she won't be as juvenile next time.  It was all the playground, and first time in Proper jitters, I swear.
-"Look love, it's a spleen.  Would you like it?"

My personal favorite moments:
Steed charging through Minefield without hitting a SINGLE cup and doing it only 9 seconds slower than Sigma, who slammed through hitting every cup possible :-p
Improv events, particularly Muffin and the blue dishsoap.  We must make Bill J help run more of these.
Being completely correct about something IC.  And then spleen.  Also, Felegro's complete lack of caring about appearing ghoulish.
Incredible tarot readings.  Just amazing.
Absolutely worth buying the POGs.
Great skelly game, which ended rather abruptly once someone finally got a Killer Diller.

This weekend was unbelievable fun for me.  I got to interact with characters I didn't know well at all, and I got to see new sides of characters I've known for ages.

In no particular order:
Tim, after finishing the obstacle course the first time:
"Look at me. I'm still in a cold sweat."

"For any team that completes the obstacle course in under a minute, we will permit the removal of TWO squares from the mirror."
Steed blows through in 38 seconds flat, without knocking over any object.

Cassie and her never-ending assistance with the things that blow my circuits and her good grace about the fact that I apparently misplaced one of the components she prepped for me.  (seriously - the fact that you cut out the house symbols for me? SO helpful.  Thank you!)

Fox managed something I didn't think was possible or plausible - he scared GiG out of a scene.

Improv. I was a skeptic.  I hate participating in Improv, but I am wholly forthcoming with my acknowledgment that I was WRONG.  Andy, you were right, and it was worth it.  I haven't laughed so hard in AGES.  I think Avatar Improv might become a stage event at DEXCON.  Now! with more props!

Tarot Readings - I wish I had the energy to do more than three at a shot, but the ones that happened were so on, and so right and so ... character-appropriate that I'm glad I did them.

Pogs! Skelly making! Jacks! (seriously - NONE of us played Jacks as kids? I thought I grew up deprived. evidently not!)

The Avatar Roundtable.  I am loving this format for getting folks more deeply seated into the mindset of their characters.

The Bunker.

Somehow, my brain mushed Sigma, Sebastian and Fox into one House. and which House I assigned them to shifted based on which one I'd seen most recently. "the three galahad.... I mean ares, I mean... damnit, the three scowly, brawny heroes in the hallway...."

Willow and Holly and the Assassin hit that took Holly out. :-D

The system has seen a lot of change in the last two years, and I really love where it's headed.  I think you're all wonderful and I can't wait until next event!

First and foremost hanging out with everyone is always a highlight for me

Crazy amounts of character development for Shamus on RP'ing with folks

Another killer IC tarot reading which i think blew away a couple of on lookers including myself

Steed blowing through the maze was insane.  And the look on his face when Shamus apologized for all that Lightfoot did to him.

Playing apples to apples IC trying to figure out what half the stuff was...Who's Bill Clinton?

Around 2am my brain was fried for being up since 6am, but the improv was hilarious the parts i could pay attention to. Props to all the performers

Can't wait till Dexcon to see what else trouble i can get into

If it makes you feel any better, when I was listing the pog game participants to someone, I *also* described Sigma, Sebastian, and Fox as a bunch of Ares.
