An Opportunity to Learn
« on: April 18, 2011, 10:52:22 PM »

As morning light gathers in one small part of Proper, the quiet hustle of someone breaking camp can be heard.  Taking down his small canvas tent and packing it away in his pack along with his broken flails, minor cooking utensils, and bedroll his mind wanders to the past "gathering."  The number of Avatars he met seemed slightly less dramatic than he expected, given how the potential population was described.  None the less he had been impressed by the caliber of the individuals he had gotten to know.  Looking at the Ares emblem on his chest, where the Badge of the Bridgeburners used to be, he smiles, glad to have found a new home.  He hefts his pack onto his back and stamps out the last embers of his fire from the "night" before.

Setting his gaze off into the distance he stops to think of his destination.  The others had explained to him how traveling works in here and he thinks to himself, "So as long as I travel with specific intent to get someone, I should reach it.  Reminds me of traveling the Warrens a little.  Though in this case I don't know my destination precisely, just whom I wish to find.  Lets hope they'll allow me to find them."

With that he focuses and sets off seeking the Delphi known as Andromache.

And promptly comes upon another camp with a 10' tall clockwork golem standing guard. Sitting at his own fire and drinking something that smells like a cross between coffee and motor oil is Azure Purespark. Looking up from staring into the fire, Azure greets the new Ares with a bright smile and a hearty "Good morning, Traf! Sleep well?" and he gestures for Traf to have a seat on the log opposite the one he is on.

The warriors of Sydney charged my golem, twenty strong. They returned numbering ten . . . and a half.

Traff places his pack down next to the log, adjusts the greatsword attached to his back, and sits.  "Slept well indeed friend.  The peculiar nature of time and distance in this place allows for a most fabulous of phenomena.  I can sleep when ever I'm tired, and provided a certain amount of isolation, Night and Day will accommodated me.  As it has been explained to me, this place seems to be governed on a level by a form of social contract between all Avatars, or a collective subconscious.  Perhaps it may even be conscious on some levels.  In short, when we gather, it is day because most present believe it to be day, and the same principal applies for night, or the color of the sky, or that of grass.  Truely a marvelous place, I suspect many layers of order imposed here, though the...fluidity of it all still amazes me."

As he rambles his statements are punctuated by constant hand motion.  He finally stops talk for a moment to reach into his pack and pull out some dried fruit and water, which he'll offer some of to Azure.

"Now as it where, this recent Gathering has left me with much to think about.  The pieces I've learned of these Progenitor's, Gabriel, the Houses, and the formation of the Nexus.  Well it all reminds me a lot of some of the stories from my homerealm.  The legends of K'rul, the creation of the Warrens, the Holds and Houses of the Deck, and the Houses of the Azath.  All seem similar.  I need to learn more of the beginnings of this place, the old Houses and their transformation into the new ones.  I'm particularly interested in the later formation of House Delphi, and this character known as Tybalt.  And so friend Azure, I am on a journey to find Andromache of House Delphi.  I was told that the two who may know most would be her, or Steed of Delphi.  I have met both briefly, and feel that, for the time, Andromache might be best suited to help me."

He finishes the bit of food left in his hands then wipes them on his pants before standing, "Would you join me Mage?"  He grins, "Who knows what we may find."

Azure will smile at his friend's ramblings, taking some of the fruit when offered. "Andromache, hmm? Well why not? She offered me some good insight to this place before, as did Shamus of Lightfoot. I've yet to choose a House, though Avalon has been recommended to be by all I have spoken to. Perhaps Andromache could offer a bit more insight before I choose." With that Azure stands, grinning from ear to ear. "An adventure, says you? Why not, says I? Firon! Break camp. We're off!" The golem, which has been standing watch, puts out the fire, collapses the tent and stows it in a compartment in his back in a matter of seconds and the mage is ready to go.

Adjusting his gear Traff will secure all his equipment before throwing a fist in the air and exclaiming, "Off we go!"

He will then pick a direction and begin walking.

OCC: popping this into "In Propper" for now
