"Depends on what you want to call a crisis John.  Tor has done blowed his domain up.  Playing with things he shouldn't have most likely.  People have rushed to his side, and will begin cleanup.  Much as we're preparing to do here with Echo.

Which actually gets me to my next question for you Stone.  You're quite right that becoming an avatar doesn't make one any wiser.  And it doesn't excuse an individual avatar, their responsibility to try and grow.

However, given the increased scope of power that being an avatar grants, is it irresponsible for an avatar to let a fellow avatar walk a path they know to be ruinous?  Especially in the face of the knowledge that we do not exist in a vacuum, and the actions of even one avatar have the potential to reach out to affect others?  Is there a responsibility to make sure the inexperienced are not forced to repeat the mistakes of our shared past?  And should an avatar fall, is there a responsibility to make sure the damage is minimized?

Or in more specific, current situations, knowing that this was a doomed romance, was there someone actively discouraging both Jason and Echo?  And when Jason was broken, was there someone keeping an eye on him, and keeping him balanced?  Perhaps even insisting that Echo make sure she had fixed what she broke?"

Jon sighs, "Seneca, I'm left to wonder if you were ever a teenager."  He then chuckles a little, "Actually its kind of amusing trying to picture 16 year old Seneca.  But thats besides the point.  Seneca, in short, you're asking if we should be constantly policing each other, and my opinion is no because the logistics are unreasonable and the benefits are minimal.  We aren't going to end bad ideas and consequences by constantly getting in each others business.  We can only be there for our friends when they need us.  Some things can't be taught Seneca, they can only be learned.  This is one of those times.  Heartbreak isn't a tamable beast.  Did I expect the idiot to go kill himself, no, no one did.  And if I had would I have stopped him?  No.  I just never would have let Echo find...things...the way she did.  As it stands, she'll live through this, I have no worries of that, and after the pain she'll have grown.  I'm just here to help her cope through that pain."

"And what would you have her grow into Jon?

Yes, I have been a teenager.  5 times over, in fact.  And yes, I learned different versions of the same lessons each time.  And I've had the privilege of training and raising many teenagers also, and they all learn the variations on the theme.  And based on the popular definition of insanity, namely repeating the same action over and over and expecting the same result, I'd say Avatar society is currently doing more than its part to maintain the status quo.

What I want to know is when are you all going to figure it out?  That being an avatar means the game has changed, and you're not supposed to play life by the same rules anymore?  Status quo, should be going out the window, with your limited perception of mortality.  And a child of the Nexus, and in the Nexus does not, and should not be necessarily held to the same pattern of growing up, that their mortal counterparts do.

Right now, your house mate is on a precipice of possibility.  In just a limited sense, she could go searching for a way to redeem and cleanse her soul.  Or, she could decide that she is better to live as an unraveled, broken shell.  Or maybe she decides she has to live in the dark now, and embrace the path of cursed destructor her spiral dance has opened to her.  I wouldn't worry so much about getting her through the pain Stone.  I'd worry about deciding what you want as your neighbor, and house mate, when the little girl in the next room becomes whatever woman she chooses to be."

Jon will rock back in his chair a little, a small smile on his lips.  "I have to spend more time around you Seneca, I feel we could debate for hours.  But right now my heart just isn't in it.  We'll just have to agree to disagree on our positions."

"For now.  But you should spend more time.  It's rare, I get the chance to have unique discussions anymore.

I know you said you wished to stay Dr. Stone.  What accommodations, and dishes are to your liking?  Also, Steed?  What other questions can I try and answer for you?"

"For what do you need a Delphi?" he asks simply.

"Presuming what I have heard, and observed, of this young lady is still valid, Echo will require a Delphi to steer her.  She's going to need an oracle, to show her where the roads to redemption lie.

Further, I find it eminently appropriate that Andi chose you.  You have a chance to recruit for the team here, John.  Or, you have the chance to make sure the other team doesn't gain a fresh face."

Steed nods. "Having seen the days of future gone I tend to agree. I presume she's in no shape for intervention right now?"

"Soon.  She's resting solidly now.  There was a brief moment of disorientation, while she was being processed for bed.  But the sleep is solid, for now.

Do you wish to wait?  Or shall I call you in, when she wakes up?"

A short time later, soft footsteps touch down the hallway and Gabrielle peers tentatively through the door to Seneca's quarters. She's dressed as she was before, (black leggings, Kelly green Keds, and a green hoody over her gray Pailey's Farm Market T-shirt printed with the words "give peas a chance"). Her clothing appears to have been expertly washed and pressed.  She keeps her hands in the pockets of her hoody, her shoulders clenched tight to her body as if she were crammed in a seat between two larger people in the subway and trying not to invade their space. She's no longer dehydrated. Her skin looks much healthier, but there is no flush in her cheeks making her freckles and the circles under her eyes look especially dark against her pale skin. Her eyes are haunted.

She sees Seneca, Steed, and Stone.

"Um..." is the best she manages. Her face tells a story of grief, fear, and shame.

Seneca smiles warmly, as he peers at Echo over the rim of his glasses.  He makes a beckoning gesture with his fingers.  "Come in.  Come in.  And do stand up straight, own up to your inches, and let go of the fretful bit.  I told you, fear will do you no good here.  The doctors here don't bite, and I'm not in the mood to.

Speaking of biting, you haven't eaten yet, and you'll need something.  What would you like?"

The young woman steps forward and straightens as instructed. Gabrielle smiles weakly at the men. She hardly seems confidant but she does her best not to let her anxiety ooze off of her.

"I am hungry." She admits, then shrugs. "I'll eat whatever."

Steed takes a seat, satisfied to allow Seneca to run things without his interference. He waits patiently, observing.

OCC: Porting for Jon, just to lazy to change my login atm

IC: Jon Stone is leaning back in his chair working on some specs for a new toy on a tablet he seemed to pull out of the air a little earlier.  He seems to be content to just wait things out, trusting that Seneca and Steed can help Echo.  At one point he'll ask Steed, "Do you have an Anti-matter Spectrometer?  Or a Dark Matter Spectrometer?"
